FAQs

Trip Changes

Our itineraries are an approximation of our trips. Trek Travel strives to offer each and every guest a vacation of a lifetime on every trip. At times routes, hotels, activities, etc. listed here may change at the discretion of the trip designer or guides to improve the trip experience.

  • Rider Type | 4
  • Average Daily Mileage | 60
  • Terrain | Hilly
  • Average Daily Elevation | 5,300

On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. USA Pro Cycling Challenge Colorado Race is best suited for our Type 4 Riders. Our Trek Travel guides can also easily accommodate Type 3 Riders, who seek less mileage or fewer uphills, with a boost in the van. Type 4 Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer. The terrain is varied with canyon climbing and mountainous terrain. Guests should be prepared for riding in higher altitudes than they are typically used to. Hills are general gradual climbs but will be steep in places. See Itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options.

Dry heat characterizes the Rocky Mountain summers, with temperatures averaging in the very comfortable 70s-90s. Afternoon thunderstorms are common and the weather can often be unpredictable. As temperatures often vary between the base and summit of a climb, we recommend light to medium layers and a waterproof shell to ensure you can enjoy your vacation of a lifetime!

This destination is best suited to guests who want to cycle every day. Trek Travel is able to accommodate non-riders but it will mean more time spent in the van as well as independent time at the hotels or in towns. However, this trip offers hotels with plenty of amenities like hiking, indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, and/or on-site or local spas. Additionally, Aspen, Crested Butte, and Colorado Springs offer great boutique shopping and restaurants within walking distance from the hotels. Regarding the Trek Factory Racing team access events and VIP stage viewings, non-riders will be able to participate in the following:

  • August 17th: TT VIP Access to Team Presentation at Snowmass
  • August 18th: TT VIP Viewing of Stage 1 Aspen Circuit Race (downtown Aspen venue)
  • August 20th: Race VIP Viewing of Monarch Mountain Finish

For an additional fee you may request to upgrade to a race-proven Trek Madone 6.5 with Shimano Di2 electronic shifting for the ultimate riding experience. Upgrades to Bontrager Aeolus carbon wheels and Trek Ride Plus electric assist bicycle are also available. Contact our trip consultants for more details.
