Today's Ride:

Springdale to Temple of Sinawava Return
Approximately 18 miles with 900 feet of climbing

Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Best Western Abbey Inn (1129 S Bluff Street, St. George, UT 84770) at 11:00 AM on the first day of the trip. Once everyone has gathered, you’ll take a 1 hour private shuttle to the desert town of Springdale. Here you will enjoy a picnic of local specialties prepared by your Trek Travel guides. During the picnic your guides will lead you in a short round of introductions, before discussing the rules of bike safety and also offering some specific cycling tips for riding in Utah. Your guides will then ensure you a comfortable fit to your bike, and familiarize you with some of its features. Now Zion awaits! Get on your bike to witness Zion’s iconic monuments—The Watchman, Court of the Patriarchs, Angel’s Landing and Weeping Rock—arriving at the Temple of Sinawava, where the canyon road gives way to the Virgin River. Tonight you and your new travel companions will meet for a drink and a delicious catered barbecue meal on the back deck of the Deep Creek Coffee Company. Take in the incredible surroundings from your private perch above Springdale as you watch the evening light flow across the desert.

Later, you may decide to tackle the incredible, renowned Angels Landing, head for the challenge of Observation Point, or enjoy a shorter walk to view Weeping Rock or Emerald Pools. With a packed lunch in hand, the day is yours to explore together in the diverse and magnificent Zion landscape, with your guides on-hand to help you decide how to best spend your day. Save some time at the end of the day to visit some of the local shops and galleries or play in the pool at the hotel. Tonight the guides and the kids will head into town for a night of pizza and fun games, leaving the adults free to explore Springdale for a quiet and relaxing dinner on their own.

At the Zion Tunnel, both riders and hikers will board the Trek Travel van to reach the other side of the tunnel where adults can hop back on their bikes and the kids will shuttle to Springdale for a lunch of your choice. The afternoon is then yours: race the kids down the river on tubes (water levels permitting) for an afternoon flotilla in the sun or you can kick back and enjoy the gorgeous pool and riverside lawn at the Inn. Desert Pearl Inn

Springdale, Utah

The Desert Pearl Inn offers an oasis of privacy and tranquility right in the heart of Springdale. Each thoughtfully selected detail adds to the feeling of warmth and hospitality at this desert retreat. The beautiful wood seen throughout the grounds is old-growth Douglas fir and redwood reclaimed from the historic Lucin Cutoff railroad trestle that once spanned the north end of the Great Salt Lake. From the relaxing lawn you can watch the river flow past and reflect on this ancient elemental force that slowly carved the magnificent canyon walls.

Trip Changes

Our itineraries are an approximation of our trips. Trek Travel strives to offer each and every guest a vacation of a lifetime on every trip. At times routes, hotels, activities, etc. listed here may change at the discretion of the trip designer or guides to improve the trip experience.

  • Rider Type | 1
  • Average Daily Mileage | 15
  • Terrain | Hilly
  • Average Daily Elevation | 750

On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. Zion Long Weekend is best suited for our Type 1 Riders. Those who wish to ride every mile but are concerned about their physical ability may want to try our electric bike option–you still get a workout but can climb alongside even the strongest rider. Type 2 Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer. The terrain is varied, from relatively level riding along the floor of Zion Canyon to sustained climbing in potentially windy conditions on the east side of the Park. The splendid views make the climbs worthwhile. See Itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options.

Zion enjoys a desert climate, meaning generally warm during the day during the spring and fall (65-85F) but potentially cool at night (40-55F). Precipitation chances are generally low, but we recommend bringing rain gear just in case. Light layers and a wind/waterproof shell are good for the day. Warm layers are recommended for the cool nights and early mornings.

On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included In The Trip Price for more information. Some non-riding options on this trip are:

  • Numerous hiking options in the staggering beauty of Zion National Park
  • Shop in Springdale
  • Relax poolside with a view of red rock cliffs at the Desert Pearl Inn
  • Schedule a spa treatment in Springdale

For an additional fee you may request to upgrade to the brand new Trek Emonda SLR with Shimano Di2 Electronic shifting or Bontrager Aeolus carbon wheels for the ultimate riding experience. Contact our trip consultants for more details.

If you’re going we’re going on almost all our trips. Trips with 1 guest booked are guaranteed to run. Select trips like Cross Country, Race and Special Edition trips require a minimum number of guests to run and are not guaranteed until that number is reached. Contact your Trip Consultant for more details.

In the event that a departure has low enrollment, we will notify guests at 60-90 days before departure to give the option to select a different date with more guests booked. Please do not reserve airfare before confirming your Trek Travel trip.

When a trip is booked, a guest confirmation letter is immediately sent out. One week prior to the trip start you will receive an email containing a trip start meeting location reminder and any last minute information that you will need to know before your trip. Once you arrive at your destination Trek Travel staff will brief you on the day-to-day plan for the trip and provide you with daily route guides and a detailed map allowing you to ride with complete confidence and independence.

We understand things happen in life and sometimes you have to cancel or change your bike tour. We want to make it as easy as possible to do so and below you will find our timeline. If you ever have a question, just give us a call, 866 464 8735. Read our cancellation policy.
