You know the feeling when you’re traveling and you stay at a fantastic hotel and think to yourself, “I will have to come back here again someday”. We love that feeling. Rebecca Falls, our North American Trip Designer and veteran Guide gave us her top five favorite hotels of all time; those places that make her want to go back again and again. These are not necessarily the most fancy properties with Michelin-starred restaurants but they are places that have that special feeling of home away from home…only WAY better.

Here are her picks!

At number five is Lost Pines Resort in Austin, Texas.

According to Rebecca, this property makes you feel like you are on another planet. There are gorgeous views of Austin’s hill country, the hotel has exceptional customer service, gorgeous trails and a massive outdoor pool. The rooms are comfortable and there is an outdoor bonfire party nightly where guests gather to “shoot the bull”.

The Clement in Monterey, California comes in at number four.

Why? This hotel literally hangs over the Monterey Bay. The rooms are enormous; there is a rooftop pool and hot tub and a lobby bar that is perfect for mingling. The friendly and efficient bellmen are another one of Rebecca’s favorite features at the hotel. Well, that, and the fresh sea breezes.

You can check out this hotel on our Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara bike trip.

Next up is Boulder Mountain Lodge in Boulder, Utah.

This place is an oasis in the desert.  Set amidst some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll find anywhere, it exudes amazing energy.  The restored wetlands, prayer flags billowing over the garden, the huge outdoor hot tub, the fire pit, and the incredible staff makes this one of Rebecca’s all-time faves.

See it for yourself on our Bryce and Zion bike trip.

The runner up is The Oxford Hotel in downtown Bend, Oregon.

The rooms are nothing short of awesome, there is a very chic vibe, the hotel is perfectly situated, and according to Rebecca, they have “consistently the nicest staff I have ever encountered”.  Don’t take that last point lightly, Rebecca guides several trips a year and is constantly working with our hotel partners all over the USA.

Our Crater Lake bike trip gives you a chance to stay here.

Rebecca’s top pick is hard to beat. The Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, California.

This place speaks for itself: location!  With sunset views of the Pacific Ocean, a private, secluded location complete wooded path on property, an amazing restaurant, this place is the definition of luxury.

The special edition President’s trip last year gave guests the opportunity to stay at this spectacular spot.
