Ride Across Italy

“As a carpenter graduate in architecture I’ve been lucky enough to understand that I love working and being on the road better than being in an office. I am proud to be part of the Trek Travel family since 2015 and this year I’ve been selected to guide across Italy, my native country! I’ve been traveling in many beautiful places around the world and I always come back home with a big smile. There is no other site in the world that can replace the Italian charm of people and the long history hidden behind the stone villages – everything combined with great food and wine makes this a unique experience you’ll find here in Italy. Don’t think any more about it, come get lost in the countryside of Italy.”

New Mexico

“Believe it or not, prior to becoming a Trek Travel Guide I had been a number-crunching accountant. Another part of my past was competitive cycling and after seeing it through to the level I set, I wanted to keep cycling very close to me. When I found the opportunity to make a career, I took that leap of faith and haven’t looked back. I’m currently starting my fourth year of guiding cyclists and tipping back glasses. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to guide over 430 guests in three continents. When you don’t find me traveling around for Trek Travel, you can find me traveling around! Over the last year I’ve greatly loved being in Italy for our Ride Across Italy and Piedmont trips, and Blackberry Farm is always near to my heart. Currently I am down in Chile, and I’m always amazed how culturally rich it is. I am looking forward to exploring the culture and incredible riding in New Mexico this spring!”

Daniel “DanF” Frideger

“I never would have thought when I guided my first trip back in 1989 that I would still be at it deep into the teens of the 21st century. After so many years of guiding in North America, Europe, Africa and South America, I still look forward to every spring when the cycling season begins and when it’s time to toughen up the legs for the joys that only seeing the world by bike can provide. For the first time in decades, I traded in Europe for the California Wine Country, just a short trip from where I grew up. I was pleased to find that the farm-fresh food, beguiling wines, stunning vistas, fascinating history and fabulous biking were every bit as good as what can be found in far flung locales. That being said, I am excited about the new destinations we are adding for our guests, with Cuba at the top of my list!”

Classic Climbs of the Tour

“Bonjour, bonjour, my name is Céline, I am a Trek Travel guide since 2015. These past two years I was super proud to be your guide in a beautiful part of my country, Provence. This area has so many treasures to offer and teach you about the French culture. This year, I am even more proud to take and cheer you up mountains, from the Pyrenees to the Alps, passing by the Giant of Provence. They are some of my favorite spots and climbs in France. If you are up for the challenge, join me on the epic ‘Classic Climbs of the Tour de France’ trip. Bonne route et Allez, Allez, Allez!!!”

Danube River Cruise Bike Tour

“My name is Wiebe the flying Dutchman or Olandese Volante. This is my third season as a full-time guide with Trek Travel. I’ve been guiding in Mallorca on our Ride Camp, the Dolomites, Ride Across Italy, Cinque Terre, Tour de France, Belgium, Switzerland and now the River Cruises. I’m a big optimist and an incredible weatherman. I speak 5 languages which makes it easy to travel through all those countries. The river cruise bike tours are an amazing trip – great places, culture, riding and all on an amazing ship with incredible service. You are on a ship that is a luxury hotel with lots of events happening on board. And with Trek Travel it’s a combination from the best! Enjoy your life!”

California Wine Country

“I am beginning my third season as a Trek Travel guide. Since joining the TT team in 2015, I have guided trips in Mallorca, Andalucía, Vermont, Costa Rica, and I am now returning to California Wine Country. My favorite part about guiding in California is the proximity to gorgeous National Park lands like Sequoia, King’s Canyon, and Yosemite. Getting to show guests the humbling beauty of California’s redwoods during our ride through the Armstrong Woods is a trip highlight for me, both as a guide and a lover of nature. When I’m not guiding, I spend time writing music and taking advantage of the Rocky Mountains right outside my doorstep in Denver, CO.”

Annecy to Alpe d’Huez

“Hi everybody I am Joaquin. Spanish born and, since I have joined TT, world citizen. I truly believe that discovering the world by bike is amazing – everything tastes different and better on my bike. That’s the reason I completely changed my life from engineering to guiding, and to meet all of you on our trips. I am so happy about my decision. France is an amazing country, not only because of the cycling options but for the architecture, history, people and, of course, food (I am a food lover). This area gives a lot of options before, during and after the trip. Plan some days at the Annecy Lake or in Paris. Let’s talk about cycling! Here the roads are stimulating, exciting and challenging. Having the opportunity to climb Alpe D’Huez, Col de la Croix de Fer and Glandon reminds me Le Tour du France. Join me and the rest of the Trek Travel guides in the Alps! See you soon!”

Jessica Burton, Trek Travel bike tour guide

Jessica Burton

“I have been guiding with Trek Travel for three seasons. I love the ability to travel, be outside and meet awesome people along the way! My background is in teaching and counseling, so guiding was quite the change. One of my biggest takeaways from those past careers was that people like to feel connected, both to each other and to nature. This job allows for both! My co-guide and I not only get to ride alongside guests each week, but we also get to create a sense of connection and meaning as we immerse them into the culture. I am excited to be guiding again in Portugal this spring! Portugal is a country filled with a rich history, plenty of great wines and undulating hills that provide stunning views. Come join me on this incredible adventure, where we’ll be sure to stop and smell the wildflowers!”

Crater Lake & Oregon Cascades

“This will be my third season guiding in central Oregon and I have absolutely fallen in love with this region. From the moment you arrive you will be blown away by the breathtaking views of the Cascade Range and the surrounding volcanic terrain. After spending the first day circumnavigating one of the world’s deepest, cleanest lakes by bicycle, you will get to explore the most amazing town of Bend, Oregon. Whether you want to explore the 28 breweries, taste Willamette Valley wines, or paddle board on the Deschutes River, you will find it within walking distance of the Oxford hotel, which was recently awarded 3rd best Hotel in the U.S.! You will also get to ride what is quite possibly one of the most popular and dramatic road cycling rides in the Northwest from the romantic town of Sisters. I can’t say enough about this wonderful region, and I so much look forward to sharing this place that I have fallen in love with, with you.”

Sonja Schmidt and Jason Harding

“Ciao Ciao! For the past four years, Jason and I have been lucky enough to find ourselves cycling through some of the most beautiful regions in the world. Of all the regions that we’ve had the opportunity to fall in love with, there is no better place that wraps up everything that exemplifies a Trek Travel vacation than our adventure through Puglia. This is an incredibly unique spot in the world, and it feels a bit like stepping back in time. This is an area where 3000-year-old olive trees line the roads, where ‘slow-food’ isn’t a movement, it’s just the way of life, and where the locals will make you feel so welcome. Did I even mention the grape? Puglia is one of the most underrated wine regions in the world and is sure to impress even the most knowledgeable wine connoisseur. I’m hoping you’ll come join us and we’ll get to experience it together.”
