Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Ireland Hiking and Walking tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Dublin (DUB). From Dublin, take a direct train to Galway from Dublin Heuston train station, taking approximately two and a half hours for around 16€. Train schedules and booking can be found on Irish Rail. You can also fly into Shannon Airport (SNN) and take a bus to Galway. Please visit www.buseireann.ie for more information.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Galway train station at 11:00 AM on the first day of your trip. Please come dressed ready to hike. Enjoy lunch in the heart of Galway as your guides explain how the trip will unfold. Once everyone is ready, a transfer of approximately one hour and 20 minutes, by private coach, will take you to Doolin and the magnificent Cliffs of Moher to enjoy your first hike in Ireland.
If you will be late for the pick up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call the trip hotel, Gregans Castle Hotel (+353 65 707 7005) and leave a message with your expected arrival time. A taxi from Galway to the hotel in Doolin will cost approximately 100€.
Additional Departure Information
On the last day of your trip, your guides will take you to Tralee train station, arriving at approximately at 10:45 AM. Here, you can take a direct train back to Dublin or to any destination of your choice. Please do not book any transportation before 11:00 AM. Alternatively, your guides can take you to Shannon Airport, arriving at approximately 12:30 PM. Please do not book any flights before 2:00 PM.

Step into the heart of western Ireland's vibrant spirit! Your guides will meet you at the Galway train station at 11:00 AM to whisk you off to a lively town center for a welcoming Irish lunch. Following introductions, and over your first meal, they'll outline the thrilling steps ahead in your adventure. A scenic one-and-a-half-hour journey leads you to the town of Doolin, a coastal gem adjacent to Ballyvaughan, our home for the next two nights. Here, we lace up our hiking boots for an inaugural hike to Gleninagh before making our way to the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher. Each stride along this awe-inspiring coastal path reveals the sheer grandeur and wild beauty of Ireland's iconic cliffs, offering soul-stirring views that promise an unforgettable kickoff to your journey. As the Atlantic sun dips below the horizon, the day's end finds us gathering for a cozy social hour and sumptuous dinner at our charming hotel nestled within the magical landscape of The Burren.

Our day begins with a 30-minute ferry ride to this enchanting island, where a scenic hike unveils the rugged beauty that has charmed poets and artists for ages. Look out for the island's wildlife, including seals and various bird species, such as the cuckoo. After exploring, enjoy some personal time in Kilronan village to grab lunch and visit the local craft shops where you’ll find authentic Aran sweaters. Later, we connect with a local goat farmer, immersing ourselves in discussions on the island's heritage, spotlighting ancient stone forts and the enduring Irish-speaking community. Our return to the mainland is followed by a lively dinner at a Ballyvaughan pub, celebrating our day's adventure.

Today, we explore the Burren's wildflower wonderland beginning our day with a hike through the limestone landscape, unveiling the extraordinary plant life that flourishes in the moon-like crags of this unique ecosystem. Discover the unusual blend of rare orchids and hardy alpine plants as you meander through this floral haven. With stories from your guide, soak in the cultural tapestry of the Burren, a region intricately woven with ancient history and folklore. Within this region lie remnants and ruins spanning prehistoric, medieval, and early modern eras. Our path leads to lunch at the Burren Perfumery, offering further insight into the wildflowers' aromatic uses. We then set our sights on Dingle in County Kerry, a hub of traditional Irish music and dance. A three-hour scenic drive leads us to our welcoming hotel. We cap off the day with a nourishing dinner in a local pub, immersing ourselves in the heart of Irish culture and cuisine.

A picnic lunch awaits amidst the island's unspoiled scenery. The adventure gently winds down as we return to Dingle, taking in the stunning views of the peninsula as we approach the mainland. This evening, dinner is your choice in this lively town. Uninterrupted Atlantic views are the reward for traversing a short uphill section over the saddle of Mount Eagle. The Dingle Peninsula hosts some of the richest collection of archaeological sites in Europe – we’ll come across standing stones and prehistoric monuments, as well as clochains or beehive huts, which may be as much as 2,000 years old. Today’s fascinating hike veers a little off of the Dingle Way to include some of the peninsula’s most impressive trails and coastal walking.

As you ascend, each step reveals the profound history and folklore of Mount Brandon, an established pilgrim route named after Saint Brendan the Navigator, a renowned figure in the history of West Kerry.
