This is my 5th Trek Travel Trip. With every trip, I say, “Wow, this is the best trip yet!” I’ve encouraged quite a few friends to try Trek Travel and they too are now repeat customers. The trip itineraries are perfect. The cycling amazingly beautiful and perfectly (did I really just say that?) challenging.

Great Ride
La Loire à Vélo
Ride a section of La Loire à Vélo, a unique 800-kilometer cycle route with stunning views of France’s Valley of the Kings!
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). Head to the “Train de Grande Vitesse” (TGV) train station in Terminal 2 of the airport (you don't need to travel into Paris first). Take a TGV to Tours Saint Pierres-des-Corps. There are direct trains from Terminal 2. In Tours you can take a taxi to the meeting location in Montsoreau. The ride takes about 50 minutes and costs approximately €100.
Alternatively, if you prefer to have even more flexibility to explore the area, we recommend renting a car for the duration of the trip. Most major rental car companies are available at the Paris airport (CDG). Advance booking is recommended.
Your Trek Travel host will meet you at your trip hotel La Marine de Loire (9 Av. de la Loire, 49730 Montsoreau) at 11:00 AM on the first day of the trip. Depending on the number of guests booked for your departure date, it is possible we will ask you to shift your meeting time by approximately 30 minutes. Please have your riding gear readily accessible to avoid having to unpack your luggage. After a trip overview, you may change into your cycling gear where you will then be fitted to your Trek bike ensuring you will be comfortable for the week. Following a safety talk and a review of the details of the route, you will set off at your own pace along the roads of the Loire Valley.
If you will be late for the meeting or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your host. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Hotel La Marine de Loire (+33 2 41 50 18 21) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
Your Trek Travel host will meet you at 11:00 AM at the trip hotel to take your bike and equipment and say farewell before your departure. We recommend that you take a taxi to Tours (the hotel can help arranging this with a local driver), followed by a train ride to Paris.

Your lunch destination and halfway point on the ride is Saumur, a bustling town on the banks of the Loire, full of boutiques, cafes, and bistros along with its spectacular castle. As you enter town, you cannot fail to be impressed with the remarkable gold-capped château overlooking you on one side and the river on the other. After lunch you’ll take the low road along the river, passing through some beautiful little villages along the way. This area is famed for its troglodyte dwellings - ancient houses carved into the soft rock of the valley walls - some of which have been repurposed as wine caves or mushroom farms! Take a closer look, or even a taste, at Souzay-Champigny and Turquant on your way back to the hotel. Paris, France
Paris is home to many of the world’s best-known monuments and museums. A backdrop of many famous photos, the Arc de Triomphe sits majestically at the top end of the Champs-Elysées. You can go to the observation deck for an expansive view down the world-famous boulevard from Napoléon’s huge triumphal arch—the largest in the world. The Arc isn’t the only site that offers a great view of the city, however. Other monuments where you can enjoy impressive vistas include the white dome of the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre, the 56th floor of the Tour Montparnasse, and of course at the summit of the most famous monument in Paris—la Tour Eiffel. The city also boasts some of the world’s best museums. At the top of the list is the Musée du Louvre where you can visit one of the world’s greatest art collections that include such famous works as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace.
