Our Race Difference:

RACE SUPPORT & EXPERTISE:

Each of our race trips has a minimum of two First Class Guides. If a group size gets above 20 persons, you will have additional guides to ensure that you always enjoy superior customer service. You never ride alone. We support you both on and off the bike. We always have one guide in our support vehicle and the other cycling alongside you. Our race trip guides have the experience and mechanical skills necessary to keep you riding comfortably at your best in all conditions. They bring years of experience managing the trip logistics of pro race itineraries and stage viewings. They’ll fill up your water bottles, change your tire, shuttle you over the hill, provide you with local insight and make sure everyone is on the right track. Off the bike, your guides are at your service to help you with anything you need—massage appointments, wine suggestions, or finding that special local treat you’re craving.

PRO LEVEL EQUIPMENT:

When it comes to bikes, we set the standard. Included in the price of your trip is the choice to ride one of our unprecedented premium quality Trek bicycles. We have one of the largest selections of bike styles, frame sizes and equipment to ensure that your bike is perfectly fitted to you.

UNRIVALED PRO RIDER ACCESS:

Guests will enjoy at least one pro rider access opportunity per race access trip, including but not limited to the following types of events: exclusive rider Q&A sessions, team bus tours, guided visits with team mechanics, social hours with riders and staff.

SIGNATURE RACE VIEWINGS & ACCESS:

We don’t want you to miss anything. After all, it’s all a part of being exposed to the races and the regions. All of the VIP race access, citizens’ ride entry fees (as applicable), and cultural events that are mentioned in your itinerary are covered in the cost of your trip. Race trip itineraries include at least two live race viewings, sometimes including race-organized VIP stage start or finish access. Guests enjoy prime stage viewing locations complete with front row seating, catered lunches, live TV broadcasts, and pro rider appearances (whenever possible).

SIGNATURE ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS:

Our race trip designer selects hotels with the best locations to get you up close access to the race routes for riding and viewing the stages. Typically, race trip itineraries will feature a mix of 3- and 4-star hotels. On our race trips, the cuisine is fresh and local. Our dinners will range from casual tapas to multi-course dinners. Breakfast is served each morning at the hotel. Lunches will offer a bounty of local specialties, from fabulous picnics to local fare at quaint bistros.

FAQs

Trip Changes

Our itineraries are an approximation of our trips. Trek Travel strives to offer each and every guest a vacation of a lifetime on every trip. At times routes, hotels, activities, etc. listed here may change at the discretion of the trip designer or guides to improve the trip experience.

  • Rider Type | 4
  • Average Daily Mileage | 44
  • Terrain | Mountainous
  • Average Daily Elevation | 6,600 ft.

On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. The Tour de France is best suited for our Type 4 Riders. Our Trek Travel guides can also easily accommodate Type 3 Riders, who seek less mileage or fewer uphills, with a boost in the van. The terrain is challenging, with stunning views and quiet roads. We will ride an average of 2-3 major climbs per day. You will be invigorated by the fresh mountain air and will take in wonderful vistas and the landmarks that dot the routes of France’s most famous race. See day by day itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options.

On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. See Included In The Trip Price for more information. Some non-riding options on this trip are:

When traveling in the Alps it is best to be prepared for variable conditions as weather can change very quickly. We recommend always traveling with rain gear as well as breathable layers to provide warmth when the temperature drops.

For an additional fee you may request to upgrade to the brand new Trek Emonda SLR with Shimano Di2 Electronic shifting or Bontrager Aeolus carbon wheels for the ultimate riding experience. Contact our trip consultants for more details.

Enjoy the view from the summit, then wander the many trails leading down to the city. We recommend the following accommodations for your pre-trip hotel:

After: Paris, France

Paris is home to many of the world’s best-known monuments and museums. A backdrop of many famous photos, the Arc de Triomphe sits majestically at the top end of the Champs-Elysées. You can go to the observation deck for an expansive view down the world-famous boulevard from Napoléon’s huge triumphal arch—the largest in the world. The Arc isn’t the only site that offers a great view of the city, however. Other monuments with impressive vistas include the view from the white dome of the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre, or from atop the 56 floors of the Tour Montparnasse, and of course at the summit of the most famous monument in Paris—la Tour Eiffel. We recommend the following accommodations for your post-trip hotel:

Hotel La Demeure

An oasis in the middle of the vibrant Latin Quarter on the left bank, this family-run hotel will make you feel comfortable and at home. 43 rooms.
