Arriving
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays.
For travelers coming from outside of Australia, we suggest arriving at Brisbane International Airport (BNE) located in Brisbane, which is serviced by 31 airlines offering flights to 50 domestic and 29 international destinations.
Taxis are available 24/7 from sheltered ranks right outside the Domestic and International Terminals. The journey to Gold Coast Airport typically takes approximately one hour and is estimated to cost around 200 AUD. The airport is also served by all major car rental agencies.
You can hire an Uber from Level 2, take the lift or escalator down to Level 1, follow the Rideshare Booking signs towards the open-air car park on the left as you exit the Terminal building. You can use Uber’s fare estimator or your Rideshare app to work out the cost of your trip.
If you are heading into the center of Brisbane, train services run every 15 minutes during peak times and every 30 minutes off-peak periods. Brisbane Airtrain also connects into the Queensland Rail suburban network. Book your ticket on the Airtrain website (www.airtrain.com.au/booking-form/) and get your return journey free.
Alternatively, if you are traveling from within Australia or New Zealand, you have the option to fly into Gold Coast International Airport (OOL), which offers connections to 18 domestic and 12 international destinations.
You will meet your guides at the Gold Coast Airport information desk at 11:00 AM. Should you be staying in the city center, a 30-minute taxi ride to the airport costs approximately 80 AUD.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Gold Coast Airport information desk at 11:00 AM on the first day of the trip. After a one-hour shuttle, you will arrive at Harvest Newrybar, where a delicious lunch awaits. Your guides will then ensure a comfortable fit to your bicycle and explain how the trip will unfold. Once everyone’s bike is ready, you’ll be off to explore the quiet roads surrounding Byron Bay! Please have your riding gear in a separate bag or readily accessible, to avoid having to unpack your luggage.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip starts with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, the Crystalbrook Byron (+612 6639 2000), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
