Upon arrival, your guides will lead a short round of introductions, review ride safety, and fit you to your Trek bike. Today you are in for a treat as we will take off on our most scenic ride of the week. The route today starts by riding out of Girona through surrounding towns, followed by a climb in the coastal hills of Cadiretes; it is just a few uphill pedal-strokes between us and the shimmering blue waters of the Mediterranean sea. The descent is breathtaking and surreal. Take in the ocean breeze and the soft touch of the sun--this is what you are here for. Once at the base, we will still have some work to do as the ride weaves in and out on coastal rolling hills. The effort is absolutely worth it though, as you will be rewarded with the most stunning views of the entire week. Today's ride is van-supported so you'll have the opportunity to have extra snacks and drinks available to you. Once in Llangostera, we'll take a quick shuttle back into town. Intimidating as it might sound, the grades are actually pleasant and the views are spectacular. This climb is one of the regional "must-do's" and it will get you to a spot with great views. The church of Santa Pellaia at the top gives the climb its true name and marks the top of it. Once at the top you can take a rest and head back down. The descent is smooth and beautiful and you will back to the bustling center of Girona in no time for a fun afternoon in town. Tonight we'll dine as a group, toasting to great rides, big views, and even bigger smiles that could only be described as "perfecto!" Before and After Your Trip

before

Before: Girona, Spain

Girona has long enjoyed the reputation for being the richest town in Spain. Founded in the first century BC, it soon became the most important point on the Spanish Via Augusta. Enjoy the reflections of the colorful pastel row houses on the River Onyar before crossing the river and wandering the narrow cobblestone streets of the medieval Jewish quarter. Admire the cathedral from below and then enjoy a 15- minute walk atop the old town walls to get great views of the town.Search out our favourite café, La Fabrica in the old quarter, where local and professional cyclists training in Girona sometimes stop for coffee. We recommend the following accommodations for your post-trip hotel:

after

After: Barcelona, Spain

The Catalonian capital of Barcelona boasts a beautiful coastline; a great diversity of culture, leisure, and shopping; creative, innovative gastronomy; and an avant-garde spirit. Be sure to check out some of the fantastic architecture and art of Antonio Gaudí, such as Sagrada Familia or Parc Guell. The Gothic quarter is the heart of Barcelona’s old town, with narrow cobblestone streets on which Picasso and Miró lived long ago. Las Ramblas is a long tree-lined shoppers’ paradise that leads to the sea. Be sure not to miss the fascinating Boqueria market for a slice of local life. We recommend the following accommodations for your pre-trip hotel:
