Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the CenterHotel Klöpp at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. After meeting with the group, we'll embark on a 1 hour drive to the start of today's adventure in Stokkseyri. Take in the beautiful scenery of this small town as you paddle your kayak along its shores. Keep your eye out for some local wildlife, as this area is known for curious seals and birds welcoming new visitors. After a delicious picnic lunch, you will have the option to ride to our first hotel or shuttle back for a relaxing afternoon. Relish in today's excitement over a drink and delicious dinner with your new friends.

Today we'll ride Þingvellir National Park where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. This National Park has been one of the most popular attractions in Iceland for decades due to its rich history and striking landscape. On this tour, we will take you on exciting trails to secret spots where you can peacefully enjoy the breathtaking landscape, far from the crowd. You will experience an exhilarating ride inside the famous fissure of Almannagjá, placing you literally between the two massive tectonic plates that are presently drifting apart. For a perfect ending of this ride, enjoy a relaxing moment in the geothermal heated Jacuzzis located at the hotel with a unique view of the surroundings.

Gear up for another day on the bike as we ride around Þríhyrningur, a volcano also known as Three Peaks Mountain. Named after its three perfectly shaped peaks, this mountain cradles a valley with traditional folklore significance. You'll ride through grassy foothills and lava fields as you traverse this riveting Icelandic wilderness. The trail offers a variety of technical but sweet, flowy trails, naturally formed by the nomadic Icelandic sheep. You'll be splendidly surrounded by spectacular canyons, moss and epic nature all day. Get an insiders look at the importance of volcanoes in shaping this island at the Lava Museum. This afternoon, set your eyes on two of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, Gljúfrabúi and Seljalandsfoss, as we shuttle to our next hotel nestled in the countryside. You will enjoy a delectable home-made dinner tonight at our hotel prepared by our hosts.

An early shuttle this morning brings us to the picturesque coastal town of Vík í Mýrdal, located at the southernmost "tip" of Iceland. Your group will begin the day with a hike up Mt. Reynisfjall to gain a unique view of the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara below. Watch out for puffins as they perch on the edges of the geometric pillar cliffs below! Savor a delicious home-cooked dinner and be sure to get some rest this evening before another adventurous day of mountain biking tomorrow.

We'll cross over into another world this morning, as we ride the magical area of Lakagígar. This area boasts endless moss-covered lava fields crafted by the hundreds of craters during the Laki eruption in 1783 - the world's biggest continuous eruption in history. You'll find yourself lost in this unique wilderness, following a gravel road only accessible by 4x4 vehicles. Today's ride will be followed by home-baked treats back at the farm by the true modern-day farmers who radiate unconditional love for their land and culture.

The terrain in Iceland is hilly and this trip includes moderately graded mountain roads, some steeper double-tracks and well-built singletrack for the mountain bike days. Iceland is best suited for our Type 2+ Riders. We will do our best to accommodate Type 3+ riders on the trip by offering, where available, extra mileage via an avid route option.
On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. Some non-riding options on this trip are:

We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays.

We recommend that you fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF). One of two Taxi companies and a frequent public bus travel between Keflavik International Airport and the CenterHotel Klöpp. Taxis can be reserved online or by phone. Booking information can be found at http://taxireykjavik.is or http://www.hreyfill.is/en/.

Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the CenterHotel Klöpp (101 Reykjavík, Iceland) at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. After meeting with the group, we'll embark on an hour drive to the start of today's activity, kayaking tour on the Atlantic Ocean.

If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Frost and Fire (+354 483 4959), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.

Iceland can be chilly, even in summer. Expect nights to dip down to below 10°C (below 50°F) and days to warm up to 15-20°C (60-70°F) and warmer.
