Today we'll ride Þingvellir National Park where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. One thing that makes it a spectacular geological site to see is that the plates keep drifting apart by an average 2.5 cm per year or 25 km per million years! Þingvellir has been one of the most popular attractions in Iceland for decades due to its rich history and striking landscape. On this tour, we will take you on exciting trails and to secret spots where you can peacefully enjoy the breathtaking landscape, far from the crowd. You will experience a fantastic ride inside the famous fissure of Almannagjá, placing you literally between the two massive tectonic plates. For a perfect ending of this tour, a relaxing moment in the geothermal heated Jacuzzis located at the hotel with a unique view of the surroundings.

Explore Iceland from the amazing angle that Kayak can offer is an unforgettable experience. We drive about 30 minutes to the base located at the small seaside village of Stokkseyri, with its many picturesque wooden houses and only 450 inhabitants. The village is small but the surrounded area spreads over more than 12 thousands hectares of untouched wild land that is the home of enormous numbers of birds, plants, seals and other animals. During the tour we frequently see curious seals following the kayaks when we paddle along the lagoons as well as getting incredibly close to a number of wild birds. Apart from being a great way to explore nature, paddling a kayak is a very peaceful and amusing entertainment. After a delicious lunch break at the local restaurant, specialized in langoustine, you have an option of a bike tour that ends in front of our hotel or get a ride back for an easy relaxing afternoon.

Visit to the most renowned sights of nature in Iceland; known as the Golden Circle. We start by a visit to Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall) Iceland´s most famous waterfall and has long been regarded as the most beautiful. The gorge was formed by flash flood waters that forced their way through cracks in the basalt lava layers. Following by a 2 – 3 hours hike tour in the valley of Haukadalur next to the most famous spouting hot spring in the world and the origin of the international word geyser. Geysir´s bowl is 60 feet across, and in past times when Geysir erupted regularly, it would spout to a height of as much as 200 feet. Today Geysir does not erupt anymore, but nearby hot spring Strokkur, spouts up to 100 feet about every ten minutes. After the ride, we’ll have about a three-hour drive to our next hotel passing by two of the most graceful waterfalls of Iceland, Gljúfrabúi and Seljalandsfoss. Tonight enjoy a delicious home-made dinner at our hotel prepared by your hosts.

Today we will ride in the magical area of Lakagígar. We cross “another planet”, through endless moss-covered lava fields vomited by the hundred craters of the Laki eruption of 1783, the world’s biggest, continuous eruption of historical times. The trail is a variety of technical and sweet flowy trails, naturally formed by the Icelandic sheep, surrounded by spectacular canyons, moss and epic nature. Today's ride is followed by home-baked treats back at the farm by the young and true modern day farmers who deliver an unconditional love for their land and culture. Savor a delicious home-cooked dinner and be sure to get some rest this evening before another adventurous day of mountain biking tomorrow.

Today we will depart early from our lodge to the start of today's ride. Katla (meaning “Kettle”) is one of Iceland's largest and most active volcano, partially buried underneath Mýrdalsjökull glacier, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and steep mountains on the other side. The second part of the today´s tour is on the top of Mt. Hjorleifshöfði a 750 ft high tuff mountain born out of a volcanic eruption from under a glacier in the penultimate Ice Age. During our ride, we have an epic view over the black beach of the south coast.

Today´s ride suit both novices and more experienced riders. We ride at a leisurely tölt – the smooth running gait characteristic of the Iceland horse – from the farm of Austvadsholt under the famous volcano Hekla, surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes with the accompaniment of the burbling of the river flowing by. All around we see fields of graceful mares, powerful stallions and this year’s long-legged foals – all adding up to an unforgettable experience. After the ride, we’ll have about a 1-hour drive back to Reykjavík. This afternoon, say farewell to your guides around 5:00 PM at the Hotel in Reykjavik, and start dreaming of a return trip back to this amazing island nation.
