Santa Barbara Self-Guided Bike Tour

The American Riviera

There are few gems like the American Riviera. Santa Barbara is more than just an oceanside escape for Hollywood's elite. It’s a crossroads where the old world meets the modern age and where the mountains meet the ocean. Your Santa Barbara Self-Guided Bike Tour begins with a seaside ride from Ventura. There's nothing more invigorating than picture-perfect riding along the coast catching a glimpse of dolphins flirting with surfers or the occasional spout from migrating whales set against the backdrop of the Channel Islands. You'll relax and rejuvenate throughout your stay at the Kimpton Canary, a boutique luxury hotel located just steps away from bustling State Street. Your Santa Barbara Self-Guided Bike Tour will be filled with riding some of the most stunning roads and bikeways in the country, from coastal cruising to tackling the infamous climb up Gibraltar Road. You'll also have time to explore the trendy eateries and tasting rooms of the Funk Zone, and don't miss an espresso at the beloved Handlebar Coffee Roasters. As no trip to Santa Barbara is complete without time on the water, we are also including a morning of kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, or surfing to round out this self-guided coastal adventure.

    Planning For Your Trip

    Packing and Weather

In an average year, Santa Barbara enjoys over 300 days of sunshine. Expect temperatures in the mid-60s to upper 70s during the day most of the year and the mid-40s to mid-50s at night. Summertime in Santa Barbara can actually be cooler for most of the day in the lowlands due to the coastal fog called the "marine layer." Rain is rare, but there is always a chance. Morning fog on the coast generally causes cooler temperatures until it burns off.
