Today you'll head out for a full day of exploring the American Riviera. Ride along the coast before turning inland to climb up to East Mountain Drive. The jaw-dropping scenery makes this one of the prettiest rides in North America, with stunning panoramic views of private estates in the hills above and the glittering blue expanse of ocean below. If you’re up for a challenge, you can take on the classic Gibraltar Road climb, where the views only get better the further you ascend. The rest of the day is yours to discover all that Santa Barbara has to offer. Choose a lunch spot from the array of downtown cafes and bistros, and then shop, pamper yourself with a spa treatment (advance reservations recommended), visit the Old Mission Santa Barbara, or take to the water with a paddle-boarding or surfing lesson. Dinner is also on your own this evening. Your guides will arm you with recommendations for dining spots and activities to help you make the most of your day.

Today begins with a scenic shuttle along the Pacific Coast to the town of Lompoc. From here, you’ll ride inland via Santa Rosa Road (known for its brisk tailwinds). Along the way, you’ll notice vineyards adorning the hills around you. You are entering the Santa Ynez valley and the wine country made famous by the movie Sideways so many years ago. Your ride will continue through Ballard Canyon to the charming little town of Los Olivos. Once you arrive, you can choose to tackle the avid route or stop and enjoy lunch at a cafe of your choosing. Perhaps take a stroll and check out the boutiques or sample some local vintages at the many tasting rooms in town. When you are ready, opt to pedal or shuttle the last 5 miles to the Santa Ynez Inn. Tonight, we'll gather for dinner made of the finest local ingredients at local favorite restaurant.

Today we’ll enjoy a lovely ride through the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country. Countless grape varieties flourish here thanks to the micro-climates created by ocean breezes sweeping in off the Pacific and traveling eastward down the valleys, which are ringed by the Santa Ynez and San Rafael mountain ranges. Enjoy the views and notice how the landscape changes as you pedal from one vineyard to the next. We’ll stop for a signature Trek Travel picnic lunch at Kenneth Volk vineyards, where you can sample Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria appellation. Afterwards, continue pedaling or take a ride in the van as we cross back into the Santa Ynez Valley appellation, known for Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet as well as Rhone and Italian varietals. You can sample additional vintages at wineries you pass along the way or in one of the many tasting rooms in Los Olivos. Whether you choose to continue exploring the wine scene or simply relax at the Inn, today is a day to savor. Tonight, we'll finish with a flourish with dinner at one of our local favorite restaurants.

Flourish. Romance. Panoramic coastal views. This hotel may be called the Californian, but it's pure Santa Barbara from its Funk Zone location to its two signature restaurants. You'll lavish in every luxurious touch, whether it's taking a break on the rooftop pool with a panoramic view of the palm trees and Pacific shoreline or treating your skin to a decadent purist oil blend at the surreal spa. This is truly one of the most impressive, incredible hotel options we've ever offered. The rooms are a magical mix of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and Moroccan flourishes, with modern touches from celebrity designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard. And even the facade tells a special story, with history dating back to the original 1925 hotel itself. Will it make you fall in love with the city? No doubt. Will you want to leave and actually see the sights? That might be up for debate.
Every moment of a Trek Travel bike trip has more than you could have ever dreamed. More romance. More scenery. More choice. It's the little additions to every Trek Travel cycling vacation that make it truly special. And that's how we help you create more memories.

In an average year Santa Barbara enjoys over 300 days of sunshine. During both spring and fall, expect temperatures in the mid 60s to upper 70s during the day and the mid 40s to mid 50s at night. Rain is rare, but there is always a chance. Morning fog on the coast generally causes cooler temperatures until it burns off in the afternoon. Los Olivos is located in the valley, so it will be a few degrees warmer. Packing List
Santa Barbara is a lively cosmopolitan city with plenty of opportunities for shopping, nightlife and outdoor recreation. You can also explore some of southern California's other coastal cities, including Ventura, Onxard, or the big one, Los Angeles, which is located approximately 90 minutes south of Santa Barbara.
