Welcome to Switzerland! Your Trek Travel guides will pick you up at your hotel in Zurich, Dolder Grand at 10:30 AM and shuttle to the charming town of Elm, we'll get down to the business of vacation. The city of Elm is nestled in the Glarus mountains and serves as an adventure home base for skiers, mountaineers and general Alps explorers. It's located with a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been awarded for its unique preservation of history and culture. Your Trek Travel guides will be on-hand at Elm to welcome you with a light lunch, introductions and a bike fit to familiarize you with your Trek bicycle and discuss the wide array of diverse activities available throughout the week. After lunch and a casual visit in town, we'll set off on the bike path for short afternoon ride before gathering back at the hotel in Elm for some family games and a dip in the hotel’s hot spring fed pool. Tonight, we will enjoy our first Swiss dinner together and prepare for a wonderful week.

Today we make our way toward Grindelwald where we will enjoy a variety of outdoor adventure activities. Along the way we will admire traditional Swiss scenery of crisp alpine peaks and crystal clear lakes. We will stop for a casual lunch in Mount Pilatus and ride the gondola up and then a thrilling toboggan ride (or cable car) back down. The views are unparalleled! Upon our arrival in Interlaken we will board a cog railway train for the last stretch of the journey to reach the Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof at the foot of the famous Eiger peak. Choose to take a dip in the pool before get settled into the hotel where we will stay for 2 nights. This evening, we will enjoy dinner with a special Swiss guest that will have some unique stories surprises in store for the group.

Today is action packed and full of adventure and options for everyone. After breakfast, we will take the cable car to First Peak and then hike on the trail, taking in the glorious views of the Eiger’s north face. Choose to return via cable car or on a Trotti bike, similar to a push scooter along the paved path into the valley. Those wanting longer hiking options can add miles to Bussalp to see Eiger, Monch and Jungffrau Mountains then take a bus back to town. Today we also have the opportunity to raft the Lutschine, a swift, glacial-fed white water river ending at the stunning Lake Brienz. Younger children may be allowed depending on the water levels of the day and the discretion of parents and rafting guides. And tonight, the kids will join the guides for a fun-filled dinner in town complete with after dinner Swiss chocolate treats while the adults toast to a fantastic day with a social hour at the hotel and then dinner on the town at a restaurant of their choosing.

This morning we’ll have the pleasure of cycling up the Lautenbrunnen Valley. Identified by its 72 waterfalls and described as the most beautiful U-Shaped valley in Europe, the views will astound you. Ride along the river as we move deeper into the valley toward the Cable Car to Murren and even higher elevations. Be whisked away to the small village of Murren which is only accessible on foot or by cable car. Take in the spectacular views from its perch and explore the surrounding countryside on foot. When you’re ready, find the perfect place to relax and enjoy lunch. If you choose, purchase a ticket that takes you to the Schilthorn at 2970m.a.s.l. Views from here include the Jungfrau and the lakes below, and on a clear day are as far reaching as Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. When you’re ready to descend, return to your bike and ride toward Interlaken. Trummelbach Falls is on route and is more than worth a stop. The unique set of ten waterfalls within the mountain demonstrate the sheer beauty and power of the water that pours from the glaciers above. The day is full of activity but if you are interested on putting on a few extra miles, there are more options available to suit your interests. Trek Travel will reserve tennis courts for the group to play a few matches before dinner then head out to toast another refreshing day in the mountains at a local favorite—La Lanterne. Known for its delicious, authentic Swiss cuisine, we’ll relax over a lovely meal and stroll back to the hotel fully satisfied

Ride along the lake to Interlaken, the go-to city for outdoor adventurers. After the ride, explore this lakeside town or relax at the hotel. If more riding is your interest, enjoy a climb into the surrounding mountains. Take full advantage of the panoramic views, and many climbs and descents through the fresh alpine air. Both options include the opportunity to visit the St Beatus caves where you can walk up alongside the waterfall to the cave entrance and purchase a ticket for a guided tour. After a full day of adventure, we will visit a local chocolatier – Schuh, which is one of the rare remaining handmade chocolate producers in the world. From here we board a private boat for a classic fondue dinner as the sun sets on our last memorable evening in beautiful Switzerland.

On all of our vacations, Trek Travel strives to find quiet, paved secondary roads or bike paths to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. is best suited for our Type Riders. Our Trek Travel guides can also easily accommodate Type Riders, who seek less mileage or fewer uphills, with a boost in the van. Those who wish to ride every mile but are concerned about their physical ability may want to try our electric bike option–you still get a workout but can climb alongside even the strongest rider. Type Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer. The terrain is See day by day itinerary for specific daily ride distance and elevation options.
On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Zurich, Switzerland.

From the Airport, there is a train you can take to Banhoff Station in Zurich.

Dolder Grand Hotel | Zurich, Switzerland

Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Dolder Grand Hotel (Kurhausstrasse 65, 8032 Zürich, Switzerland) at 10:30 AM on the first day of the trip. From there we will have a private shuttle to the charming town of Elm for a light lunch and bike fit.

If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip starts with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Hotel Elmer (+41 55 642 60 80), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. You may take a taxi to the first night’s hotel for approximately (30) euros.
