Letter from Tania Burke

President of Trek Travel, Tania Burke wearing cycling gear in the Alps

Dear Trek Travel Guide Applicant,

More than 25 years ago, I started guiding because I wanted a career built around something I love. That feeling hasn’t faded. Nothing beats hearing guests say it was the best trip they’ve ever taken, or seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and watching people soak up the simple joy of being outside in some of the most beautiful places in the world.

Our guides are the heart of Trek Travel, and everything they do is about creating the vacation of a lifetime. Their energy is contagious. They’re curious, a little quirky, and they bring life experience from all kinds of paths, from cartoonists to engineers to attorneys. That variety is what gives each of them their own spark.

Our guides move easily from grease to grace. One minute they’re tuning a bike or showing up with a cold drink right when it’s needed. The next, they’re sharing the story behind a hilltop village or pairing a Michelin-starred dinner with the perfect local wine. They know the terrain inside and out and can tailor each route to the rider in front of them. What makes them truly stand out is their flexible, fun, can-do spirit. They live by our motto, Your Day, You Decide, and will go to great lengths to make every trip unforgettable.

Here are the qualities and skills we look for in our guides:

  • Professionals
  • Excellent Communicators
  • Seasoned Travelers
  • Exceptional Bike Mechanics
  • Natural “Connectors” with all personality types
  • Master a Foreign Language
  • Fun, Passionate and a Dynamic Zest for Life
  • Flexible
  • Avid Cyclists
  • Safety-focused
  • Resourceful and Solution-Oriented
  • Culturally Aware and Involved

Guide life is unique, rewarding and not an easy job. Please read through our Guide position information to determine if this is the job for you. If the answer is YES we look forward to hearing from you.

Good Luck!

Tania Burke
