Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Faro International Airport (FAO).
You can find connections to this airport from many major European cities, although Lisbon, Portugal is the closest (a 45-minute flight) and a great place to visit before and after your trip.
There are multiple ways to transfer to Vitors Village from Faro International Airport. Car rentals are available there at the airport and are around $300-500 for the week for small to midsize rentals. Alternatively, Uber is plentiful and operate 24 hours a day from within Faro. Transfer from FAO to Agua Hotel Riverside is approximately 50 minutes and costs around 65-80€ for 1-4 passengers.
Please note that some European rental companies are requiring an International Driving Permit. AAA is one of only two private entities in the U.S. authorized by the U.S. Department of State to issue an IDP.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Vitors Village (R. Infante Dom Henrique, 8400-282) at 11:00 AM on the first day of the Portugal cycling camp. Upon meeting your guides and getting checked into the hotel, we will ensure you have a great fit to your Trek bike for the week and give you a few pointers before you head off on a self-guided warm-up ride.
If you will be late for the meeting time, or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Vitors Village (+351 282 450 010), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at 11:30 AM at the hotel. Please be sure to book transportation to your departure airport prior to the end of your trip.
The use of your Trek Travel bike ends at 11:30 AM on day of departure, and in some cases, may be needed for another guest arriving that day. Extensions may be available upon request but cannot be guaranteed before your trip begins.
Choose from one of our self-guided rides such as the Silves Loop
Overview
Welcome to your Portugal cycling camp! Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Vitors Village at 11:00 AM, where you’ll be fit to your Trek Domane with Di2 shifting and receive an overview of the training focus and ride options. Light snacks will be available during the safety talk and trip briefing before the group bike fitting. Kick off the week with the Iberian Lynx Loop, a solid self-guided ride that introduces the region’s varied terrain. Ride out through Silves, once the capital of the Algarve under Moorish rule, and pedal past the ancient walls of Silves Castle, the largest and most striking Muslim fortifications in the region. Refuel with a quick coffee stop in town, or extend your ride through the undulating countryside, where orange, persimmon, and fig trees line the road. Spin back along the coastal roads to the hotel, settle in, and join the group for dinner and a look ahead at the week’s rides.

Tackle the Caldeirão Mountain Range like the pros
Overview
Today you’ll ride the very roads the pros tackle each February in the Volta ao Algarve (Tour of Algarve). It’s a big day in the saddle as we ride through the Algarve, with twisting turns climbing into the captivating Barrocal region, where vineyards and almond groves appear around every bend. We’ll stop to refuel at a bicycle-themed café in Arte. You’ll then have the option to attack the famous climb up Malhão, the highest point of the Serra do Caldeirão at 1,643 feet (501 m.), or begin your journey back to Ferragudo. After a relaxing break at the hotel, the evening is yours to enjoy the charming village of Ferragudo, just steps from your accommodations.

Overview
You’ll begin your day heading north to the village of Monchique. This charming village is known for its natural beauty and traditional architecture—the white walls, carved stonework, and stripes of color around doors and windows—along with its saia, the chimneys’ distinctive “skirts,” which differ from those found elsewhere in the region. You’ll catch your first views of Fóia today, with your opportunity to climb it coming in a couple of days. Pedal through wild strawberry bushes and into the quaint town of Casais, then take in views of the majestic Atlantic Ocean before beginning your descent through rolling landscapes framed by cork and wild olive trees, guiding the way back through Ferragudo and to the hotel.

Ferragudo to Bravura Water Reservoir Loop
Overview
Today’s ride explores the southern edge of Portugal, linking quiet inland roads with the Algarve’s rugged coast. Pedal through some of the region’s most remote terrain, including the area around the Bravura Reservoir, before turning toward the coast where the profile steepens and the riding becomes more demanding. The shift in terrain delivers sustained efforts paired with wide coastal outlooks that reward the work. Riders looking to add additional miles can extend the route toward Praia do Zavial, a well-known surf beach. You’ll enjoy lunch at a popular local bike café before the return to Ferragudo. Back at the hotel, unwind with time by the pool before heading out for dinner on your own.
