Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your bike tour in the Netherlands, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS). The Amsterdam airport is about five-and-a-half miles (nine km) from the town center.
You can take a train from Schiphol Airport directly into Amsterdam Central station. The train station is located below the terminal building. The train gets you to Amsterdam Central Station in approximately 15 minutes. Two of our recommended pre-trip hotels are in walking distance from the Central Station. We recommend that you buy the Amsterdam Travel Ticket that allows you to make unlimited use of the train and bus to and from Schiphol, and all trams, metros, and buses in the city centre for up to 24 hours.
For more information about getting to town from the airport, check out the airport's webpage at www.schiphol.nl/en/
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Restaurant De Bosbaan (Bosbaan 4, 1182 AG, Amsterdam), at 9:00 AM on the first day of the trip. Enjoy a small snack while your guides give you specific information about riding bikes in the Netherlands and do a bike fitting to ensure your comfort on your Trek Domane or your Trek Verve+ this week. You'll then be ready to ride right from De Bosbaan, out of Amsterdam, along the canals, all the way to Zuylen Castle. Please arrive at De Bosbaan promptly, dressed in your cycling gear and ready to ride. While there are changing facilities on-site, they are limited, so being ride-ready will help keep things on track.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Hotel Arsenaal, Delft (Korte Geer 1, 2611 CA Delft, +31 15 205 2090) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. You may take a taxi to the first night’s hotel for approximately 100€. The trip takes around 30 minutes from the airport.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at The Pand Hotel in Bruges at 11:45 AM. A private Trek Travel shuttle will depart from the hotel at 12:00 PM noon to Bruges' Central station from where you can easily catch a train to Brussels airport or to other Belgian towns, like Ghent or Antwerp. The train ride from Bruges Central station to Brussels airport takes approximately 90 minutes and trains run every hour. Please do not schedule a flight out of Brussels airport before 5:00 PM on the last day of the trip to allow plenty of time for any unforeseen delays.
Welcome ride along canals and through Holland’s Plassen
Overview
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Restaurant De Bosbaan at 9:00 a.m., easily reached via Metro Line 52 or a short cab ride from Central Station. After friendly introductions, you’ll cover bike safety and Netherlands‑specific riding tips before getting fitted to your Trek bike. Riding south, you’ll pedal past tranquil plassen (Dutch for “pools”) mirroring the open sky, with classic windmills punctuating the horizon. The route winds through storybook villages and lush countryside to a cozy bistro near Zuylen Castle, a beautifully preserved 13th‑century fortress. After lunch, enjoy a brief five‑minute walk for a private tour inside a traditional windmill—an up‑close look at the ingenious engineering behind one of the Netherlands’ most iconic symbols. Afterwards, we will take a one‑hour shuttle to Delft, our home base for the next three nights.

Experience Keukenhof park, one of the world's largest flower gardens, and tiptoe through the tulips!
Overview
Wake up to another great day in the Netherlands and enjoy a relaxed breakfast before a one‑hour shuttle to Keukenhof, the country’s largest and most celebrated flower garden. Wander through waves of vibrant blooms and take in the colors, scents, and creativity of this truly one‑of‑a‑kind place. Lunch is on your own today—grab something casual and delicious from one of Keukenhof’s street‑food‑style stands before hopping on your bike. From here, you’ll ride south through open landscapes and scenic dune paths, trading crowds for quiet countryside as you make your way back to Delft. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to unwind, explore town, or settle into a café before regrouping for dinner at a welcoming local bistro.
Please note: The Keukenhof flower garden typically closes in mid-May, which marks the end of the tulip season. While dates vary with the weather, if you're hoping to see tulips, we recommend choosing a trip between April and early May.
