Climb up to the majestic Cols du Lautaret and Galibier
Overview
Today brings a true King or Queen of the Mountains test as you take on two of the Alps’ most revered climbs—both featured in this year’s Stage 20. After a one-hour shuttle to the mountain town of La Grave, your bikes await for the start of an unforgettable ride. You’ll approach from the opposite side of the race, beginning with the Col du Lautaret, a storied pass crossed more than 40 times in Tour history and guaranteed to get your legs firing. From there, continue climbing to nearly 8,600 feet (2,621 m) atop the Col du Galibier, a monumental ascent that has shaped more than a century of Tour de France drama. Your guides will be there with support, snacks, and Tour-style encouragement as you power through each switchback with pro-level determination. Pause for lunch on the Col du Lautaret, then either shuttle back to the hotel or ride the sweeping descent to Mizoën for the lesser-known Col de Sarenne—the quiet, rugged route to the summit of Alpe d’Huez and the final climb of Stage 20. This evening, enjoy dinner at your leisure in town at a local bistro.
