Additional Arrival Information
We recommend arriving at least one day before the start of our cycling tour to adjust to the time zone and avoid any flight delays. We suggest flying into Pau (PUF) with direct flights from Paris and other European cities. Air France offers several daily flights, while EasyJet provides fewer but potentially more affordable options. Upon landing, a taxi to Pau city center is approximaltey 70€.
From Paris, take a TGV train to Pau, either from the TGV station at Charles de Gaulle Airport or from the Gare de Lyon in Paris. Please consult www.trainline.com. to book your tickets.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Pau TGV train station, Av. Jean Biray, 64000 Pau, France, at 11:00 AM on the first day of the trip. After a one hour shuttle by private coach, your Tour de France vacation begins! Enjoy lunch as your guides explain how the trip will unfold, and expertly fit you to your Trek bike. Once everyone’s bike is ready, you’ll be off to explore the quiet roads of the Pyrénées.
Please have your first day’s riding gear handy and separate from your other luggage to facilitate the bike fitting and ride.
If you will be late for the start or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip starts with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Hotel Gallia & Londres (+33 (0)5 62 94 35 44), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
You’ll say goodbye to your guides at 11:00 AM at La Brèche de Roland Hotel. From here, a private coach takes you to the Pau TGV station (approximately a 90-minute shuttle). Pau offers easy train connections to Paris or another destination of your choice. Please do not book any train before 1:00 PM.

Conquer the legendary Col du Tourmalet featured in yesterday's Stage 6
Overview
Today, you’ll take on one of the Pyrénées’ most iconic climbs—the Col du Tourmalet, featured in yesterday’s Stage 6. Descend from the hotel and ride through the dramatic Gorges de Luz, where jagged cliffs rise above a rushing mountain stream. From the village of Barèges, the climb to the summit begins in earnest—nearly 12 miles (19 km) at an average gradient of 7.5%, reaching 6,942 feet (2,116 m). This historic ascent has appeared in the Tour de France more than 80 times. Pause to honor Octave Lapize, the first Tour rider to conquer the col in 1910, and take in the sweeping alpine views. Then enjoy a thrilling descent back to Luz-Saint-Sauveur, where you can choose to ride the final climb back to Gèdre or hop in the van to return to the hotel. Enjoy dinner together tonight at our hotel and rest up for another spectacular day on the bike tomorrow.
