Additional Arrival Information
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Hotel Nord 1901 (Carrer Nord, 7-9, 17001 Girona, Spain) at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. It's recommended that you bring a set of cycling clothes in your carry-on in case of lost luggage. After checking in to your room and meeting your guides, change and come to the bike room ready to ride.
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays.
We recommend flying into Barcelona (BCN) and taking a train to Girona from Barcelona Estacio de Sants. For the most comfortable option, a taxi or ride-share from the airport directly to the train station is easy to arrange from either terminal—Cabify is the recommended app within Barcelona or you can follow signs for taxis and use a regulated city cab. The journey to the city center train station takes 20–30 minutes and costs around 35€. For public transport, local trains depart directly from the station located outside Terminal 2 for Barcelona Estació Sants and cost around €5 one-way. If you arrive at Terminal 1, take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 2. For train information, consult www.renfe.com.
From the Girona train station, Hotel Nord 1901 is approximately a 15-minute walk, or taxis are also available for the short ride.
If you will be late for the meeting time, or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Hotel Nord 1901 (+34 972 41 15 22), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. Please have your first-day cycling clothes and riding gear easily accessible, separate from your luggage.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at 10:00 AM at Hotel Nord 1901 in Girona. Please be sure to secure transportation to your departure airport prior to the last day of the trip. Please refer to the "Additional Arrival Information" section for further transportation information.
Get a first taste of the gravel paths surrounding Girona
Overview
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Hotel Nord 1901 in Girona at 10:00 AM. After a round of introductions, they’ll share insights into the region’s gravel riding and dial in your Trek Checkpoint for the week. Once everyone is ready, you’ll set off on your first ride, an introduction to the roads that have made Girona a global gravel destination and home to The Traka. The locals’ “airport loop” mixes winding paths with a few punchy climbs as you settle into the rhythm of Catalan riding. Afterward, gather for lunch at a café on the edge of Girona that’s a regular stop for the cycling community, then return to the hotel, steps from the old town (Barri Vell), to unwind. This evening, a welcoming social hour leads into dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants as your guides share what to expect in the days ahead.

Climb the gravel version of a Girona classic—Els Àngels
Overview
Today we’ll tackle the gravel version of a quintessential Girona climb, Els Àngels, and see why this region has become a mecca for gravel cycling. The route spans the area’s terrain, from smooth pavement and hardpack to winding forest roads and more technical sections. We’ll roll out along the paths tracing the Ter River, then climb into the forested hills of Les Gavarres to the Sanctuary of Els Àngels, where Salvador Dalí and Gala held their church wedding in 1958. Take in views that reach from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean before descending toward Girona. Back in the city, lunch is at a bistro popular with the riding crowd. Spend the afternoon exploring the medieval walls, the cathedral, and the Jewish Quarter, or settle in at a café and watch the city go by.
