As Trek Travel prepares to celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027, we are excited to launch our new Patagonia Hiking & Walking trip. We’re marking this milestone by supporting conservation efforts in the region that make this experience possible. Patagonia is known not only for its iconic landscapes and biodiversity, but also for the people and organizations working every day to protect them. Travel has the power to connect us with remarkable places, and it also provides an opportunity to contribute to their long-term stewardship.

Our local partner, Say Hueque, already runs a native tree-planting program, helping restore forests affected by wildfire while supporting local nurseries and ecological restoration efforts. For every guest who joins our Patagonia Hiking & Walking trip, Trek Travel will match that impact by funding 10 additional native trees. Together, we’ll plant 20 native trees in honor of every Trek Travel guest who explores Patagonia with us, helping reach Say Hueque’s goal of 500,000 native trees planted by 2030—a commitment that reflects our shared belief that travel should leave places better than we find them.

We’re also proud to support the broader conservation of Patagonia through a $5,000 donation to Rewilding Chile. Formerly known as Tompkins Conservation Chile, Rewilding Chile carries forward more than three decades of conservation work inspired by the vision of Douglas and Kristine Tompkins. Since the early 1990s, the organization has focused on protecting and restoring the extraordinary ecosystems of Chilean Patagonia, helping nature recover so both people and wildlife can thrive.
Today, Rewilding Chile continues to restore ecosystems, strengthen wildlife corridors, and advance wildlife recovery programs for iconic Patagonian species including the huemul deer, Darwin’s rhea, Andean condor, and Darwin’s frog. Through long-term conservation, ecological restoration, and partnerships with local communities, the organization is helping ensure Patagonia remains one of the world’s great wild places. We encourage you to check out this short video to learn more about the conservation outcomes their team is achieving across the region.
Patagonia is one of the world’s great wild places, and we’re proud to support the organizations working to help keep it that way. As we welcome guests to its soaring peaks, glaciers, forests, and remarkable wildlife, we look forward to investing in the long-term health of the landscapes and communities that make these experiences possible.
