Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your bike tour in Slovenia, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU). The Ljubljana airport is about fifteen miles (24 kilometers) from the town center. You can take a taxi (approximately 25 euros) directly to the hotel, or a bus which departs hourly. Most of the hotels also arrange airport shuttles.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Urban Boutique Hotel Center (4 Štefanova ulica, 1000 Ljubljana) at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. You’ll then shuttle 40 minutes to your lunch spot for a local fresh picnic. After lunch, your guides will do a bike fitting to ensure your comfort on your Trek Domane this week, before you take your first spin through the countryside to the beautiful Lake Bled. Please have your first day’s riding gear handy and separate from your other luggage to facilitate the bike fitting and ride.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Rikli Balance Hotel (+386 4 579 17 00) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. You may take a taxi to the first night’s hotel for approximately 80 euros. The trip takes around 30 minutes from the airport.
Please note: On select dates, the first hotel is Bled Rose Hotel (+386 4 579 60 00). All other travel details remain the same.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at 10:00 AM at the Hotel Gredič, Dobrovo in Slovenia or Castello di Spessa Resort & Spa, Capriva del Friuli in Italy (depending on your trip dates).
You'll depart by private shuttle for the Tronchetto, Venice, arriving around 12:00 PM. The Isola of the Tronchetto offers multiple connections to all areas of the city, including vaporetto (water bus) stops for easy access to various parts of Venice.
The Ferry Boat public transport service is available for the Lido di Venezia, and you can use the People Mover to reach the Passenger Terminal of the port of Venice or Piazzale Roma, where you'll find bus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Airport. Piazzale Roma is close to the main Santa Lucia railway station for Venice. Avoid booking seats before 2:00 PM to allow adequate connection time for travel or possible traffic delays. The airport in Venice (VCE) is 8 miles (13 kilometers) from the city, reachable by taxi or shuttle bus; please do not schedule a flight prior to 4:00 PM.
If you plan to explore Venice before the trip starts, options include bus, land taxi, or private water taxi to central Venice from the airport. Land taxis outside the arrivals terminal are abundant, while private water taxis cost approximately 80-120 euros. The ATVO direct coach at www.atvo.it offers a 20-minute ride to Piazzale Roma for six euros, the gateway to historic Venice and the Grand Canal.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before beginning your ride towards the blue-green waters of Lake Bohinj, the largest lake in Slovenia. Cycle through the Sava Bohinjka River Valley and dip your toes into the glacier-fed water before heading up to Pokljuka, the 12-mile (20-kilometer) long alpine plateau located in the Triglav National Park. Nestled between Bled and Bohinj, this area boasts serene pine forests and tranquil pastures, with the Slovenian Alps providing a breathtaking backdrop. It's truly picture-perfect! The shingle-covered wooden cottages represent the characteristic feature of the Pokljuka mountain pastures. They were once used by the shepherds as their homes and where they made the traditional sour milk. To make sure you have enough energy for the climb, experience a typical, homemade snack at our favorite cheese farm before climbing up to the plateau for lunch. You can also choose to take a shuttle up to lunch and then back to Bled to have extra time to either explore the town or indulge in a relaxing afternoon along the lakeshore. For those continuing by bike after lunch, a long downhill ride will take you back to Bled. This afternoon, a traditional Pletna boat ride will take you to visit Bled island and the iconic St.Mary's church with its renowned 99 stone steps. Dinner tonight is on your own, and you can choose from a list of recommendations provided by your guides. Read More
