Same incredible trips. New enhanced standards.

For the past 20 years, Trek Travel has been committed to guest safety. It’s this commitment that allows us to deliver wow moments without worry.  And in today’s ever-changing health environment, our focus remains on providing exceptional hospitality and showing you the world by bike in a responsible way that keeps the health of our guests and guides the priority. What does that mean for you?

Not only can you book with confidence due to our new, flexible cancellation policy, but you can rest assured that our on-trip dining, transfers, and activities are all COVID-aware and planned for maximum safety. Here are a few additional changes we’ve made to prioritize your health while you travel with us.

Trek Travel will require all guests to be fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result within 72 hours of the trip start. It will be necessary to carry proof of vaccination along with negative test results for all 2022 departures.

Vaccination and COVID-19 Testing Requirements

Trek Travel is actively monitoring and implementing guidelines recommended by health officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as local authorities where applicable. Trek Travel will require all guests to be fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result within 72 hours of the trip start.

*Our policies may change as new information becomes available. Any updates to our itineraries will be communicated promptly via our website and email.

Vaccination: Trek Travel will require all guests to be fully vaccinated and to carry proof of their vaccination with them for 2022 departures*. (*If you qualify for a medical exemption, please contact our team.)

  • A hard copy, digital copy, or picture of your vaccination certificate along with your negative COVID-19 PCR/antigen test results will be accepted. We’ll also accept a medical certificate confirming recovery from COVID-19 dated no more than 90 days before departure.
  • Please note that many regions (including most international destinations) have additional requirements and/or documents needed for entry. See details on European entry requirements HERE.
  • Your guides will check your documents at the start of the trip. For the health and safety of the group, if you are unable to show proof of vaccination and negative test results, you will be unable to join the trip and our standard cancellation policy applies.
  • You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine. See  HERE for CDC vaccine guidance.
  • We encourage those who are eligible to get a booster dose. At this time we are not requiring it for travel with us but are closely monitoring what the CDC considers “fully vaccinated.”

COVID-19 Testing: Trek Travel will require a negative COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test within 72 hours of the start of your trip, presented on the first day. See HERE for the US testing site nearest you.

  • Copies of negative COVID-19 test results obtained for a country’s travel entry requirements are accepted as long as they were received within 72 hours of trip start.
  • We recommend you purchase the  Abbott’s BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card At-Home Rapid Test Kit from eMed, if you are unable to find testing locally. This is also a good option for international travel and US re-entry requirements.
  • Guides can help facilitate getting tested locally if guests become symptomatic while on trip with us. In Europe, guides will also facilitate return testing in accordance with current and local regulations.

Recovery from COVID-19: If guests are not vaccinated, but recovered from COVID-19, they must have recovered within the last 90 days and present negative PCR or rapid antigen test results. In addition to a confirmation of recovery from a medical professional, you will need to have isolated as per CDC guidelines and be symptom-free.

On-Trip Requirements:

Face Coverings: Trek Travel guests and guides will be required to wear face coverings in vans and other transportation vehicles. We will follow local restrictions and guidelines for mask use indoors. See more on face covering below.

Symptomatic Guest: If a guest starts experiencing symptoms during the trip, they will be asked to isolate at the hotel and our guides will provide guidance on the nearest medical facility to seek further evaluation.

Social at a Distance

Social at a Distance

  • We have always valued small group travel. Trek Travel trips average 12 guests per trip, with a maximum of 24. Small group travel allows flexibility for comfortable distance at meals, route and safety talks, and transports.
  • We will communicate your group size 30 days before your trip and a week prior to your trip. We’re always just a short phone call away for any questions regarding your trip or group size.
  • We will dine with your comfort in mind. Small groups, outdoor dining, or a private table? We can make it happen. We are working with restaurants to create a comfortable, safe dining environment so you can relax and savor the local flavors.
  • Our famous Trek Travel picnics are a guest favorite. There will be slight changes to how we prepare and serve, but one thing that won’t change are the epic views while you dine!

Cleanliness You Can Count On

  • Trek Travel is taking our standard cleaning to new levels with enhanced cleaning protocols.
  • We’ll be disinfecting our vans and will wipe down high touch points to make sure that they are sparkling clean, ready to take you on your day’s adventure, or boost you on your ride.
  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available at all times in Trek Travel vans.
  • Our hotel, restaurant, and activity partners are working with us on extensive cleaning protocols and checklists. We are communicating in advance about our requirements and will address COVID-19 specific policies at our final pre-trip meeting to ensure standards are being met.

  • 100% of our guides are vaccinated.
  • There’s a reason why the best part of every Trek Travel trip is the guides. Trek Travel guides are true professionals and prepared for any situation with safety protocols and a communication plan.
  • All Trek Travel guides are certified in First Aid, CPR, and bike mechanic training, and they are up to date on CDC sanitation guidelines to best support our guests while traveling.
  • Trek Travel guides will complete a self-health check before every trip.
  • Our guides are happy to serve guests by completing all food prep while wearing gloves.

Face Covering Info

  • Trek Travel is strongly encouraging all guests to bring their own face-coverings. Guests should always have a face-covering readily available to wear when needed. We strongly recommend KN95, N95, or other similar masks.
  • While we will not require masks outdoors, we will continue to follow local restrictions and guidelines for mask use indoors. We ask that all guests remain flexible, respectful, and courteous of other guests and staff at restaurants, hotels, etc. regardless of their vaccination status.
  • Face coverings will be required in all Trek Travel vans and other transportation vehicles.
  • Face coverings must cover both nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others.

Ride the all-new Domane Disc on a Trek Travel bike tour

“From the guides, to the scenery, the dining, and co-guests, this was a great trip! Excellent riding options with challenging climbs, amazing views, and a wealth of memories. Crater Lake was stunning, cycling through the lava flows of McKenzie pass was otherworldly, and the mix of alpine and high-desert was really cool. Perfect weather, perfect riding, and perfect guides. Lodging was excellent – especially the peaceful and relaxing setup at FivePine. Do not let the current COVID-19 situation make you feel that a Trek Travel experience will somehow be less than before – this was my ninth trip with Trek, and this trip was as good as any that I have done prior. Trek Travel really is a step ahead of the rest with planning, processes, and execution. Their work with local companies and jurisdictions, combined with the covid-related processes put into place for cleaning, health checks, and sanitization, deliver an as safe as possible experience in today’s climate. Well done!”
