Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Asheville to Greenville bike tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Asheville Regional Airport (AVL). Delta, United, American, Allegiant plus several smaller airlines service this airport.
From the airport, it is approximately 15 miles from the airport to the meeting day hotel in downtown Asheville and the drive should take between 25-30 minutes. We recommend that you arrange transportation with a car service ahead of time. The cost will be between $65-70 plus driver gratuity and we recommend Diamond Executive Car Transportation (828-281-8139) or Marvels Upscale Transportation (828-280-1698) for your transportation needs.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at The Foundry Hotel at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. You’ll then shuttle 30 minutes to Marshall, a small town on the banks of the French Broad River. Please come dressed in cycling clothes and have your cycling gear in a separate bag, separate from your luggage (your luggage will be stored at The Foundry Hotel and delivered to your room later in the day). You'll enjoy a fresh, delicious lunch at Zadie's Kitchen and, after a brief orientation and safety talk, saddle up to begin the day's ride.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call The Foundry Hotel (828-552-8545) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at 12:30 PM at the Asheville Regional Airport. If you need transportation back to downtown Asheville your guides can return you to The Foundry Hotel, arriving around 1:00 PM. Please do not schedule a flight before 2:30 PM on this day.
Welcome to Asheville!

Visit Travelers Rest and Ride the Swamp Rabbit Trail
Overview
This morning, after enjoying breakfast in the hotel at Between the Trees, overlooking Falls Park on the Reedy, you'll head out to ride the rolling roads of the Upstate. Named for its higher elevation in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Upstate is South Carolina's scenic northwest corner. Begin on the famous Swamp Rabbit Trail, a multi-use rail trail, formerly the Greenville & Northern Railway, that links Greenville to the nearby town of Travelers Rest. From here, choose between the Locust Hill Loop or the Tigerville Loop for more or fewer miles before lunch. You’ll ride past houses and farms with the Blue Ridge Mountains ever-present in the distance. Pause for a fresh, tasty café lunch back in Travelers Rest before cruising (or shuttling) the final 10 miles to the hotel along the Swamp Rabbit. Spend the afternoon exploring the trails of Falls Park, relaxing with a book in the inviting library nook, or indulging in the Poseidon Spa (appointments should be scheduled in advance and are not included in the trip price). Tonight, gather for drinks and dinner at one of our favorite downtown bistros, Soby's, as you toast an unforgettable week in the Carolinas.
