Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Bryce and Zion Bike Tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into St. George, Utah (SGU). You can contact the St. George Shuttle (800-933-8320, www.StGShuttle.com) to schedule a taxi ride from the airport to downtown St. George for approximately $25, one way. Taxi USA (435-656-1500) is another taxi service available that can take you from St. George airport to Best Western Abbey Inn for approximately $35. You can also call for a taxi upon arrival at the airport and should expect to pay a similar amount. However, taxis are not necessarily waiting at this small airport so we encourage you to arrange transportation ahead of time for the transfer between the airport and your accommodations.
Alternatively, you may fly into Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS) and shuttle approximately two hours to St. George. The St. George Shuttle (800-933-8320, www.StGShuttle.com, $39 per person each way or $49 per person for the Executive Shuttle) will drop you off at their office in downtown St. George, and you can take a taxi to your pre-trip accommodations. Or you may contact the Salt Lake Express (formerly St. George Express), which offers service from the Las Vegas Airport (435-652-1100, www.saltlakeexpress.com). Prices vary by the pickup time of the shuttle. Prices vary by the pickup time of the shuttle. If choosing Salt Lake Express, door-to-door service in not necessary, as the St. George drop-off is across the street from the Best Western Abbey Inn. When making travel plans from Las Vegas, please note that St. George, Utah is on Mountain Standard Time.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Best Western Abbey Inn (1129 S Bluff Street, St. George, UT 84770) at 8:00 AM on the first day of the Bryce and Zion Bike Tour. If you choose to stay at the Abbey Inn the night before your trip, special rates may be available for Trek Travel guests, depending upon your travel dates. Simply mention Trek Travel when you call the hotel to book. For guests driving to the trip start, please note that you may not leave your vehicle at the Abbey Inn during your trip. Instead, you may contact Temple View RV (800-776-6410, please mention that you are with Trek Travel) to reserve a storage space for your vehicle for the duration of your trip. It's $15/day or $65 for 5+ days (up to a month). Temple View RV is a 0.4 mile walk from the Abbey Inn. Once the luggage has been loaded, you will shuttle four and a half hours to Boulder Mountain Lodge. While on the shuttle, your guides will give you a preview of the day’s ride and commentary on the area. Please have your first day's cycling clothes easily accessible, separate from your luggage. After enjoying a fresh, delicious lunch, you will change into your biking clothes and begin the ride along the scenic Burr Trail.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Boulder Mountain Lodge (435-335-7460), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. It is highly recommended that you do everything within your power to make the scheduled pick-up, as it is very difficult to get to the Lodge on your own. However, if you are in need of private transportation, we suggest you try the St. George Shuttle (800-933-8320, www.StGShuttle.com) to arrange transportation at your own expense.

Step into the stunning landscapes of Bryce Canyon and then pedal among the towering sheer rock faces of Zion
Overview
This morning, we set out for a memorable hike in Bryce Canyon. We step down, via switchbacks, along narrow walls of colorful limestone with views of towering Douglas-fir trees and the park’s iconic hoodoos. These irregular columns of rock can be found on every continent, but Bryce Canyon has the largest concentration found anywhere on Earth. Our route comes across the park's most famous hoodoo: Thor's hammer. After our hike, we shuttle to Cordwood where we will enjoy lunch before descending into Zion National Park by bike. Have your camera ready to catch your first view of Zion’s stunning sandstone summits and rugged peaks. We shuttle along the road past the Checkerboard Mesa to the Zion Tunnel. After the tunnel, we’re ready to pedal our way down switchbacks and on to our hotel in the town of Springdale. Afterwards, we gather our necessary gear in preparation for our hike through the Narrows tomorrow. Tonight you’ll stay at Flanigan's Inn, a quiet retreat near the gates of Zion. Scout local dining establishments on your own, such as Oscar's or the Spotted Dog Café, or feel free to branch out and find a new spot.
