We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Pisa (PSA). From Pisa airport a shuttle train called Pisa Mover takes you to Pisa Central station in only five minutes. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at the airport, and the cost is 5€ for a single ticket. From Pisa Centrale there are frequent direct trains to La Spezia. The trip takes about one hour and costs approximately 9€. Visit www.TrenItalia.com for train information.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the La Spezia train station at 11:00 AM on the first day of the trip. Please come dressed ready to hike. After a quick 15-minute transfer by private coach, enjoy lunch in Portovenere as your guides explain how the trip will unfold. Once everyone is ready, you'll be off to explore the island of Palmaria while enjoying unparalleled views of Portovenere and the Gulf of the Poets.
If you will be late for the pick up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call the trip hotel, Grand Hotel Portovenere (+39 0187 777751) and leave a message with your expected arrival time. A taxi from La Spezia train station to the hotel will cost approximately 40€.

A 20-minute shuttle takes you to the enchanting medieval town of Portovenere, the “Bay of Poets” gem. After a brief introduction, your guides will share insights into the week ahead over your first group lunch with stunning sea views. Next, we'll start the adventure with a private tour through Portovenere with our local guide, including a visit to the ancient, scenic San Pietro church perched at the peninsula's edge. During the walk we'll enjoy views of Palmaria, a tiny island brimming with natural and historical wonders and a Unesco World Heritage Site. We’ll then check into our luxurious 5-star boutique hotel for the next two nights. Overview
Wake up with one of the world's most stunning vistas, and witness the sunrise above the magical Gulf of Poets and Portovenere harbor. Today your guides will shuttle you to the start of the hike in Campiglia, a village tucked into the folds of the terraced hillside. We'll hike through expanses of lush Mediterranean greenery, winding our way to the hidden village of Monesteroli via a breathtaking 1,200-step sandstone staircase. Your effort is rewarded with spectacular views and a unique, tranquil setting atop a sea-facing rock spur. The trail then continues through terraced hills and vineyards until reaching an organic farm rising out of the Ligurian Sea in a restored ancient rural settlement, reachable only on foot. We'll stop for a well-deserved lunch and wine tasting before finishing the hike at a revered sanctuary with stunning views. A brief shuttle ride brings us back to our hotel for an afternoon of relaxation. Tonight, venture out to discover the ideal dinner spot in town, perhaps ending the evening with a refreshing limoncello as you soak in the romantic ambiance of town.

Our journey continues along a trail that clings daringly to the hillside, winding through terraced vineyards and olive groves to Corniglia, the smallest and highest of the towns, offering a viewpoint with spectacular vistas of all five villages.
