After a 50-minute shuttle, you’ll arrive in the charming town of Empuries for a delicious lunch with your first taste of the Mediterranean sea view. Afterward, your guides will ensure a perfect fit on your Trek bike and familiarize you with its features before you take to the road for a warm-up ride along country roads that cut through the patchwork of wheat fields. This evening, you’ll taste the much revered, local cava together with handmade tapas on the hotel’s aromatic, garden terrace followed by an unforgettable welcome dinner at the hotel, in one of the region’s celebrated Mediterranean restaurants—an explosion of flavor that sets the tone for the week ahead.

You’ll want to take plenty of photos today as the beauty of the Costa Brava unfolds at every turn. Ride through the rolling countryside of Baix Empordà, where the Pyrenees rise in the distance and ancient stone villages dot the landscape. Pause for an espresso in the medieval town of Pals before continuing along undulating roads to Calella de Palafrugell, a traditional fishing village perched above a coastline dotted with small coves and fishing boats. Enjoy a seaside lunch with sweeping Mediterranean views, then choose to linger on the beach or ride back through fields of green and bursts of wildflowers. This evening, stroll the cobbled lanes of Peratallada on a private walking tour before dining at one of its inviting bistros, soaking in the charm and golden glow of this beautifully preserved medieval town.

Today’s ride carries you from the inland plains to the sparkling Mediterranean, winding through Les Gavarres—a rugged mountain massif of the Catalan Coastal Range. This protected natural area, once home to prehistoric settlements, is now a peaceful landscape dotted with old stone farmhouses and quiet hamlets. Pause at Mas Bell Lloc, a family-run organic winery where traditions have been passed down for generations. Enjoy a private tour of the estate followed by a leisurely lunch on the vineyard grounds, where local specialties are paired perfectly with their organic wines. The afternoon brings a gentle descent to sea level and your home for the next three nights—the elegant 5-star Hostal de la Gavina. This afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish – maybe with a stroll on the beach, in the hotel’s luxurious spa, or with a trip into the beach town of Platja d’Aro, which is full of shopping opportunities, before deciding which of the many fantastic restaurants to visit for dinner.

Admire Costa Brava’s dramatic coastline today from the tranquil calm of the Mediterranean Sea! Spend the morning on crystal waters aboard our private schooner, cruising past secluded rocky coves and powder-sand beaches. With a picnic lunch on the boat and plenty of time to relax, enjoy the opportunity to take a dip, go snorkeling, or simply lie back and soak in the sun and scenery! The boat cruise is always a favorite with our guests, but if you prefer more time in the saddle, a riding option to explore further inland is available. Later, take a dip in the infinity pool or unwind with a massage before a piano-accompanied dinner in the timeless ambience of Restaurant Candlelight by highly awarded chef Romain Fornell.

This morning, the journey is the destination as we guide you along quiet, winding roads that trace the extraordinary coastline. Reminiscent of California’s Big Sur, this scenic route sees more cyclists than cars. Stop for lunch of your choice in the medieval walled town of Tossa de Mar, with enough time to explore the old town and walk up to the castle. In the afternoon, shuttle or ride back to S'Agaró along the same spectacular stretch, then take time to recharge at the hotel. This evening, gather to raise a glass and toast to an incredible day of riding and an unforgettable week. Afterwards, join your guides for a short stroll along the waterfront to Taverna del Mar, where fresh Mediterranean seafood and seasonal Catalan dishes provide a perfect finale to your week by the sea.

Although this morning’s ride is short, it offers spectacular views of the Gavarres Mountains. If you prefer, simply linger over a hot cappuccino and enjoy a leisurely morning, soaking in the gorgeous sea views from the breakfast patio. Bid farewell to your guides at 11:00 AM at Hostal de la Gavina. You’ll then shuttle 90 minutes to the Barcelona Sants Train Station, arriving at approximately 12:30 PM.
