Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your bike tour in Denmark, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Copenhagen Kastrup Airport (CPH). The Copenhagen airport is about eight and a half miles (13.5 km) from the town center.
You can take a train or subway from Copenhagen Airport directly into Copenhagen's Central station (København H). The train station is located below the terminal building. The train gets you to Copenhagen Central Station in approximately 20 minutes. Our recommended pre-trip hotels are in walking distance from the Central Station. We recommend that you buy a Copenhagen City Pass that allows you to make unlimited use of the train and bus to and from the airport, and all trams, metros, and buses in the city centre for up to 24 hours.
To get more information about getting to town from the airport, check out the airport's web page at www.cph.dk and to plan your journey with public transportation, you can use www.publictransport.dk.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Vedbæk railway station (Vedbæk, Stationsvej 20), at 10:30 AM on the first day of the trip. You can reach Vedbæk railway station with a 26-minutes train ride from Copenhagen's Central station (København H). Enjoy a small snack while your guides give you specific information about riding bikes in Scandinavia and do a bike fitting to ensure your comfort on your Trek bike this week. You'll then be ready to ride right from Vedbæk on quiet country roads and bike path, all the way to Frederiksborg Castle and on to your first hotel, Kokkedal Castle. Please have your first day’s riding gear handy and separate from your other luggage to facilitate the bike fitting and ride.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Kokkedal Castle (+45 44 22 80 00) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. You may take a taxi to the first night’s hotel for approximately 800-900 DKK (around $115-$130). The trip takes around 40-50 minutes from the airport.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at Hotell Hovs Hallar at 10:45 AM. A private Trek Travel shuttle will depart from the hotel at 10:50 AM, arriving approximately 30 minutes later at Båstad train station. From there, you can easily catch a train to Copenhagen Airport or other Swedish towns, such as Gothenburg, Stockholm, or Malmö. The train ride from Båstad train station to Copenhagen Airport takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes and trains run every hour at 32 minutes. Please do not schedule a flight out of Copenhagen Airport before 5:00 PM on the last day of the trip to allow plenty of time for any unforeseen delays.
