Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Patagonia Arizona Gravel bike tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into the Tucson International Airport (TUS).
From the airport, you can arrange a ride to the hotel via taxi, Uber or Lift. Please refer to the airport website, www.flyxna.com, for the most current options. It is approximately ___ miles from the airport to downtown and the ride will take approximately ____minutes.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you in the lobby of the ____ Hotel (___ St, Tucson, AZ 85756) at 10:30 AM on the first day of the trip. Your trip begins with a picnic lunch and a bike fitting session followed by your first ride. Please come dressed in riding clothes and have your riding gear in a separate, readily accessible bag. Your luggage will be stored at the hotel and placed in your room when it is ready.
If you will be late for the meeting or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. If you cannot reach them, please call the Gravel House Hotel (406-370-4573), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at 11:00 AM at the hotel, or 12:30 PM at the Tuscon International Airport (TUS). Please do not schedule a flight before 2:30 PM in case we encounter unforeseen delays.
Enjoy a warm-up ride and a welcome dinner at the Gravel House
Overview
Meet your guides at the ___ Hotel at 10:30 AM. After a 75-minute shuttle, you'll be treated to a signature Trek Travel picnic followed by a bike fitting session and your first ride. After a few miles of pavement, you'll be off on gravel roads for a warm-up ride in the San Rafael Valley. The ride concludes back in town, and you'll have time to settle into your room and relax a bit before we stroll a few short blocks to the Straw Bale House for a delicious social hour and dinner prepared by Chef Zander of Cyclist's Menu. (Note: Most meals, including all breakfasts will be hosted here; we’ll eat outside on a deck surrounded by heat lamps and a bonfire in the evenings).

Ride to historic Empire Ranch and get a taste of Arizona's wine country
Overview
Enjoy a hearty breakfast spread prepared by Chef Z. Today everyone will shuttle 15 minutes to Sonoita where the ride begins through the through La Cienegas National Conservation Area. Stop at Empire Ranch and tour the historic homestead and grounds of Arizona’s oldest cattle ranch. It was established in 1876 and remained a working ranch until 1960. After leaving the ranch, the ride becomes more challenging as you head towards the Santa Rita mountains. Your ride ends back in Sonoita where you’ll enjoy a wood fired pizza at Dos Cabezas Winery. From here, we’ll shuttle back to Patagonia. Tonight’s dinner will be served by Chef Z at the Straw Bale House.

Ride at your pace and explore Patagonia this afternoon
Overview
After another hearty breakfast, today’s ride offers a few flat miles to warm up as you pass a hummingbird sanctuary and the 865-acre Patagonia-Sonoita creek Preserve. This area is owned by the Nature Conservancy and is home to an array of endangered fish, butterflies and birds. A few miles in, you’ll begin climbing and be treated to 360 views of the Santa Rita Mountains. The short option ends at the top of the first climb, allowing you to soak in the views before descending. The avid option continues with more climbing and increasing challenging road conditions to the ghost town of Alto before retracing steps back to Patagonia. Once back in town, the afternoon is yours to enjoy lunch on your own and check out the few shops in town or perhaps take a birding walk. (Massage available; not included in price; book in advance). Check out the Patagonia Lumber Company for a local brew before enjoying dinner on your own.

Ride through desert grasslands framed by four stunning mountain ranges as you make our way south toward the Mexican border. Your guides will be there to provide encouragement, snacks and support along the way. Enjoy a simple lunch en route to keep you going strong. This evening, we’ll celebrate in style with a final social and dinner at none other than the Straw Bale House.
