Additional Arrival Information
Your Trek Travel host will meet you at your trip hotel, Hôtel Sous les Figuiers (3 Av. Gabriel Saint-René Taillandier, 13210 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence) at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. Depending on the number of guests booked for your departure date, it is possible that we will ask you to shift your meeting time by approximately 30 minutes. Please have your riding gear readily accessible to avoid having to unpack your luggage. After a trip overview, you may change into your cycling gear, where you will then be fitted to your Trek bike, ensuring you will be comfortable for the week. Following a safety talk and a review of the details of the route, you will set off at your own pace along the roads of Provence.
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Provence Self-Guided Bike Tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Paris (CDG). From Paris, take a TGV train to Avignon, either from the TGV station at Charles de Gaulle Airport or from the Gare de Lyon in Paris. Alternatively, you may fly into Marseilles (MRS) or Nice (NCE) and travel by train to nearby Avignon. From Avignon, we recommend taking a taxi to Saint-Rémy for approximately 70€.
Train schedules are available and tickets can be booked directly online at www.trainline.com. (Please note: Train schedules change frequently. Please consult the Trainline site for the most up-to-date schedule.)
If you will be late for the meeting or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your host. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Hôtel Sous les Figuiers (+33 4 32 60 15 40) and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
Your Trek Travel host will meet you at 11:00 AM at Hôtel Sous les Figuiers to take your bike and equipment and say farewell before your departure. We recommend that you take a taxi to Avignon (the hotel can help arrange this with a local driver), followed by a train ride to Paris.

Uncover a 12th-century abbey and the ancient layers of a storied landscape
Overview
Waking in St-Rémy, linger over an extra pain au chocolat before the region’s history beckons. Today's route is mostly flat, leading you to the impressive Frigolet Abbey—founded in the 10th century and still an active monastery today. From there, the route is yours: follow the meandering Rhône River or push further to the triple-tiered Pont du Gard, one of the world's best-preserved aqueducts and a masterpiece of Roman engineering. A stop at a roadside bakery makes for an easy lunch before you find your own way back to St-Rémy. Tonight, dinner is on your own and a chance to explore the town at your own pace. La Cave aux Fromages is worth a detour: a cheese shop built around a 12th-century ripening cellar, with charcuterie plates and a selection that rewards the curious.

Browse a Provençal market and pedal into the quiet village of Eygalières
Overview
Market day in St-Rémy sets the tone for the morning. Stroll the stalls and take in the fresh produce, local cheese, and artisanal goods of a quintessentially Provençal scene. When you're ready, the ride heads out with a couple of early climbs before the Alpilles limestone range opens up around you on the approach to Eygalières, a village known for its fountains and hilltop fortress. Take time to explore and find a spot for lunch before setting off on a quiet route back. The afternoon is yours in St-Rémy. A visit to the ruins of Glanum and Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, the asylum where Van Gogh spent a year and painted some of his most celebrated works, including the view that became Starry Night, is well worth the time. This evening, dinner at one of St-Rémy's restaurants rounds out the day with the flavors of Provençal cooking.
