We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Santa Barbara bike tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays.
We recommend flying into San Diego International Airport (SAN) in San Diego, approximately 30 miles from your hotel. San Diego International Airport is served by 17 major and commuter airlines. You can hail a taxi from the Transportation Plazas outside of each terminal. Taxi rides from the airport to Encinitas will cost approximately $95. The airport is also served by all major car rental agencies.
Your Trek Travel host will meet you at the Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas at 11:00 AM on the first day of your San Diego 3-Day bike tour to go over details of the week ahead. Please have your riding gear readily accessible to avoid having to unpack your luggage. After a trip overview, you may change into your cycling gear where you will then be fitted to your Trek bike ensuring you will be comfortable for the week. After a safety talk and reviewing the details of the route, saddle up to begin the day's ride.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas (760-452-3500), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
Say farewell to your guides at the hotel after a wonderful trip. The trip ends with a shuttle from Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas to the San Diego airport which will take approximately 30 minutes. If you are flying out of San Diego today, please do not book a flight before 2:00 PM.

Overview
California summons thoughts of sun, swells, and cycling under palm-flecked streets! Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Alila Marea Beach Resort at 11:00 AM. Come dressed to ride as you leave your bags at the front desk and head out for your first day of cycling. Kick off your 3-day bike tour by cycling along this world-famous coastline, known for its picturesque beauty and active cycling community. You'll head towards the Ocean Hills community, near Vista, CA, which boasts over 50 miles of scenic cycling routes, ranging from coastal paths to rolling hills. As you pedal along, take in the stunning seaside bluffs that line the route, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Keep an eye out for the local surfers below, as this area is renowned for its excellent surf breaks. We'll gather as a group for dinner tonight, at our hotel's surf-inspired restaurant fronted by epic ocean views.

Embark on one final picturesque journey along the coast, soaking in the beautiful ocean vistas as you pedal northward. Today's route takes you along Pacific Street, which runs parallel to the shoreline, allowing you to enjoy the refreshing sea breeze and the sound of crashing waves. You'll pass through the vibrant Oceanside Pier area, which is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The Oceanside Pier is an iconic landmark and offers fantastic panoramic views of the coastline. You can take a moment to stop and appreciate the scenery before heading back to the hotel and toasting with new found friends to a delightful few days at the beach.
