Activity Level: Level 4
Terrain: Mountainous
The terrain is challenging and filled with stunning views. Expect at least two or three major climbs per day, combining steady ascents with several steep sections and technical descents that require strong bike-handling skills. The route up and down Alpe d’Huez, which you’ll ride multiple times, is especially demanding, featuring sustained climbing and a steep, winding descent that tests both strength and control. Please note that some roads may be narrow and busier than usual, as we’ll be visiting the region during an international event.
Our Tour de France VIP Access bike tour is best suited for our Level 4 Riders. For those eager to experience every mile but mindful of their physical limits, our Domane+ electric bike option offers a comfortable and enjoyable solution. Our Trek Travel guides can also accommodate Level 3 Riders, who seek less climbing, with a boost in the van. Our avid route options add extra mileage and elevation for those who want to challenge themselves further.
