Activity Level: Level 2
Terrain: Mostly Flat to Hilly
The hikes are highlighted by sweeping moorlands, quiet forest paths, and unforgettable coastal scenery. You’ll explore Dartmoor’s granite tors and rolling hills, walk through peaceful woodland, and follow clifftop trails along the Southwest Coast Path with striking views of rugged headlands and sandy coves. Some sections also cross beaches and dunes. Please note that the clifftop paths may not be suitable for guests with vertigo.
Our England Hiking and Walking Tour is best suited for Level 2 hikers. On select days, additional route options will be available for guests seeking either more elevation or a shorter, gentler walk. While our support van cannot travel directly on the footpaths, it will meet the group at designated access points when possible, or be waiting at the end of the hike to greet you.

On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-hiking options for guests who want to take the afternoon off, or travel companions who want to spend little or no time on the trails. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price.
Please note: Our first hotel is located in a quiet, rural setting and is best suited for guests who are happy to relax, unwind, or enjoy gentle walks from the property. Because we use two hotels on this itinerary, the mid-week transfer day will involve additional van time for non-hikers. The second half of the trip, based in a lively coastal town, offers more opportunities for free time, independent exploring, cafés, shops, and coastal strolls.
Some non-hiking options on our England Hiking and Walking Tour are:
- Enjoy gentle riverside walks starting directly from the hotel grounds
- Wander Castle Drogo’s gardens and savour a traditional Devon cream tea
- Sample award-winning local spirits during a Tarquin’s gin tasting experience
- Spot seals and dolphins on a wildlife boat trip in Padstow
- Relax on Cornwall’s nearby beaches or explore their scenic coastal paths
- Taste small-batch craft beers with a visit to Padstow Brewing Co.
- Learn about local marine life during a visit to the Lobster Hatchery
- Explore Prideaux Place, a historic Elizabethan manor with beautiful grounds
We've got you covered on and off the trail! During our hiking and walking trips, you'll never venture alone. A guide will be with you on the trail at all times. Depending on the group size, another guide will either be waiting with the van at the hike's end or walking by your side. And when you're not hiking, our guides are at your service for anything you need—from booking massage appointments to helping you find that special local treat you've been craving. So go ahead and take on those trails with confidence—we'll be with you every step of the way.
- Fully guided and supported with one or two guides and one support van on select days
