Ojai to Santa Barbara Bike Tour

California's Central Coast

Breathe deeply, and let the calming energy of the California coast take over. If you've never heard of Ojai (pronounced "OH-HI"), you're in for an undiscovered delight. This is where hippie meets happy. Here, artists, philosophers, farmers, historians, and bohemians conspire to escape the rat race and find their modern chi. Of course, this is still the California Coast, so get used to the fact that calming energy will combine with elegance and luxury. You’ll feel it too, as you sink into decadence at the award-winning Ojai Valley Inn with its gorgeous landscape, pool with a view, tranquil, full-service spa, artist’s cottage and apothecary, golf course and the list goes on. While you may want to get off the grid and have your mail forwarded here permanently, before you know it, we’ll be descending from the mountains to the sea as we head for Santa Barbara, the American Riviera. There’s nothing more invigorating than picture-perfect riding along the coast and a sunset sail. Enjoy more fresh, local nouveau-Californian cuisine as we explore the trendy Funk Zone, with its near-bottomless wine list and local charcuterie. Pedal through the vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley and explore the shops and tasting rooms of quaint Los Olivos. Your shoulders have lifted. Your energy is high. Your chakras are in balance. And for a brief, fleeting and perfect pink moment, all is calm with the world. Book your trip with confidence »

The terrain is varied including gradual descending on a bike path, flat riding along the ocean, and a few short climbs and undulating roads in Ojai, Santa Barbara, and Los Olivos. The short options feature the least hilly terrain while the avid options involve more hills. Ojai to Santa Barbara is best suited for our Type 2 Riders. Our Trek Travel guides can also easily accommodate Type 1 Riders, who seek less mileage or fewer uphills, with a boost in the van. Those who wish to ride every mile but are concerned about their physical ability may want to try our electric bike option–you still get a workout but can climb alongside even the strongest rider. Type 3 Riders will enjoy the extra mileage the avid route options offer.
On most Trek Travel trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation to these activities may not be included in the trip price. Some non-riding options on this trip are:
