Overall, the cycle tour in South Dakota is a stunning adventure....[We enjoyed] a spectacular ride through the Badlands followed by an even more scenic ride through Custer State Park the next day. We also got an up-close view of longhorn sheep and buffalo. You couldn't ask for a better guides like Rae and Levi or for better scenic rides than South Dakota in the fall under the watching eyes of the Mt. Rushmore Memorial!

Welcome to the Black Hills for a week of exploring this unique and utterly beautiful destination! Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Hotel Alex Johnson at 9:30 AM on the first day of your South Dakota glamping and bike trip. After a one-hour shuttle, you’ll arrive in Custer where you will have time to stroll around town while your guides prepare a signature Trek Travel picnic. After lunch and a short round of introductions, your guides will discuss cycling tips for riding in the Black Hills before familiarizing you with your Trek bicycle and ensuring a comfortable fit. Your first ride is on the beloved Mickelson Trail, a 109 mile crushed gravel bike path that spans most of the state. The trail climbs gently and the scenery transforms from pine forests to rounded granite rock walls to open meadows as you meander along. After several miles, the the stunning Crazy Horse Memorial will come into view. You'll have a chance to pause for a visit to learn about the history of this immense work in progress and take a short bus ride to the base for a closer look. Afterward, we'll continue riding to the trailhead in Hill City where we will regroup and shuttle approximately 30 minutes to Under Canvas, your glamping headquarters for the next three nights. We will gather around the fire pit for social hour and dinner this evening and your guides will fill you in on what's in store the rest of this amazing adventure!

Enjoy the scenery as you ride through beautiful open grasslands and pine speckled hills. We'll pause at the visitor center for lunch. From here, you may opt to call it a day or hop back on your bike and finish the loop back to Legion Lake. Avid riders may pedal the forest back to camp along the undulating and serene Playhouse Road.
