This was the best vacation ever, we still talk about is all the time. Getting to see the race and racers up close and getting to ride their routes was something I never thought possible. And having everything taken care of - all we had to do was show up. That was incredible. The bikes were ready when it was time to ride, the vans were ready when it was time to travel, we knew exactly what was on the schedule and where to be and everything went off smoothly - well choreographed. Now that I've experienced it I realize that the price was a real bargain - I don't see how you can offer all the amenities at that price. Anyway, thank you  - thank you - thank you. We had a blast

Most major U.S.-based airlines serve this airport. From just outside baggage claim you can hail a cab for ground transportation, and a cab from the airport to downtown will cost approximately $40. Once everyone has arrived, the group will transfer approximately 20 minutes to Girsh Park in Goleta. At the park you will enjoy a light brunch while your Trek Travel guides ensure a comfortable fit to your bicycle for the weekend. Afterwards you'll begin riding with a route heading down the coast. Please have your riding gear in a separate bag or readily accessible, to avoid having to unpack your luggage.

If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our first hotel, Santa Barbara Inn (800 231 0431), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. A taxi from the Santa Barbara Airport to the Santa Barbara Inn will cost about $40 and take about 10 minutes.

Planning For Your Trip

Packing and Weather

You can expect to experience a wide range of temperatures and conditions on your Amgen Tour of California trip. The first two days will be spent in Santa Barbara, which enjoys average temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees in May. However, when you ride further north on Days 3, 4 and 5 of your trip, expect cooler temperatures and a higher possibility of rain. In other words, be prepared for anything, including rain! We recommend packing layers and also checking the forecast the week before your trip in order to pack appropriately. Packing List

Before and After Your Trip

before

Before: Santa Barbara, California

Santa Barbara is a lively cosmopolitan city with plenty of opportunities for shopping, nightlife, and outdoor recreation. You can also explore some of southern California's other coastal cities, including Ventura, Oxnard, or the big one, Los Angeles, which is located approximately 90 minutes south of Santa Barbara. We recommend the following accommodations for your pre-trip hotel:

after

After: Monterey, California

Monterey is a magical city on California’s rugged central coast. Its Cannery Row, one-time center of the sardine-packing industry, was immortalized by novelist John Steinbeck. Today, it's a popular strip of gift shops, seafood restaurants and bars in converted factories. Also famous is Monterey Bay Aquarium, with thousands of marine animals and plants on display in underwater and interactive exhibits. We recommend the following accommodations for your post-trip hotel:
