Additional Arrival Information
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your Dolomites bikes tour, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Venice's Marco Polo Airport (VCE) and then take a train to Belluno. Italian train schedules and tickets can be found on www.TrenItalia.com.
Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Belluno train station (Stazione di Belluno - Piazzale della Stazione 32100) at 9:00 AM on the first day of your Maratona bike tour. Your guides will shuttle you approximately one hour to the town of Alleghe where they'll spend some time fitting you to your Trek bike ensuring you will be comfortable for the week. Following a safety talk and a review of the details of the route, we’ll begin our ride, taking in the spectacular peaks of the Dolomites accompanying us throughout the ride. Please have your riding gear in a separate bag, since your luggage will be unloaded at the hotel in Corvara and you will not have access to it during the bike fit.
If you will be late for the meeting or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, La Perla (+39 0471 83 10 00), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details.
Additional Departure Information
You will say farewell to your guides at 10:00 AM at La Perla hotel. You’ll then take a 90-minute shuttle to the Belluno train station, arriving around 11:45 AM. Direct trains run from Belluno to Venice every hour, with easy connections to all major Italian cities. Please do not book any trains before 12:30 PM. Train schedules can be found on www.TrenItalia.com. We recommend reserving your train ticket in advance.

Climb Passo Giau, Falzarego, and Valparola—epic ascents with breathtaking rewards
Overview
After a hearty breakfast, set out for one of the Dolomites’ most scenic loops. Start with a climb over Passo Campolongo, descend into Arabba, and ride 12 miles (20 km) of rolling terrain to the base of Passo Giau. This six-mile (10 km) ascent averages 9% and leads to a sweeping descent and a well-earned lunch at a cozy mountain lodge surrounded by towering peaks. Next, tackle Passo Falzarego—famous for the 1946 Giro d’Italia duel between Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali—then push on to reach Passo Valparola at 7,113 feet (2,168 m), where dense woodland gives way to rocky alpine terrain. Coast back to Corvara to relax, perhaps in the spa, before a shuttle to a local agriturismo in Badia for farm-fresh Ladin specialties followed by a visit to the Maratona village to pick up your race numbers.
