Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Restaurant IJ-Kantine at 9:00 AM. Easily reached by taxi or a free ferry from Central Station, this former factory-turned-restaurant sits along the IJ River in North Amsterdam. After introductions, your guides will cover bike safety and Netherlands-specific cycling tips before fitting you to your Trek bike. Heading south, you'll pedal past serene plassen (Dutch for "pools") reflecting the open sky, with windmills dotting the horizon. The route winds through charming villages and lush countryside, leading to a welcoming bistro near Zuylen Castle, a beautifully preserved 13th-century fortress. Enjoy a well-earned refreshment on the terrace before shuttling to The Hague, home of the Dutch royal family and our base for the next three nights.

Wake up to a great day planned for you in the Netherlands! After a delightful breakfast with your new friends, we’ll take a 1 hour shuttle to the biggest and most impressive flower garden of the Netherlands, Keukenhof. Take a stroll and breathe in the floral air, as this garden is a sheer delight for all your senses, and truly a one-of-a-kind destination. After, you’ll take off by bike to the coast and ride through a "Dune Park" and picturesque coastal towns to arrive back at The Hague, where you will have time to explore town for lunch on your own. We will regroup tonight for a dinner together in The Hague's old town at a charming, locally-celebrated restaurant.

Please note: The Keukenhof flower garden typically closes in mid-May, which marks the end of the tulip season. While dates vary with the weather, if you're hoping to see tulips, we recommend choosing a trip between late March and early May.

This morning, immerse yourself in the Netherlands' iconic landscapes of windmills, canals, and world-famous cheese. A 45-minute shuttle brings you to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kinderdijk, where 19 historic windmills stand as a testament to Dutch water management for over 700 years. Ride among these engineering marvels, then step inside the museum mills to uncover their fascinating history. Next, we head to Cheese Valley for a tasting with our local friend and expert cheesemaker, learning the art of crafting perfectly aged Gouda. After lunch, continue riding toward the cheese capital itself—the town of Gouda—where you can opt to shuttle back or take on the Avid option through rural landscapes and nature preserves to Delft. Known for its hand-crafted pottery and lively town square, Delft is also home to the Dutch Royal Family and Johannes Vermeer. Explore at your own pace before riding back to the hotel. Tonight, dinner is yours to enjoy, with your guides ready to share their favorite spots in town.

Are you ready to ride across international borders? After breakfast, a two-hour shuttle brings you to Breskens on the Dutch seaside, where you’ll begin your ride along scenic sand dunes before heading inland toward the distinguished city of Bruges. Along the way, pause in the charming village of Sluis to explore and enjoy lunch. From here, it's a short ride to the Belgian border, where you'll follow a canal path straight into the heart of Bruges. This capital of West Flanders is renowned for its unique medieval charm, cobbled streets, and picturesque canals. This evening, we’ll visit De Halve Maan, the oldest family-run brewery in the area, for a taste of their signature Brugse Zot beer—best enjoyed after climbing the brewery’s 220 steps! Tonight, dinner is on us, with your guides directing you to a carefully selected restaurant where you can dine at your preferred time.

Today is yours to enjoy as you wish. Choose to ride through the scenic Belgian countryside or spend the day exploring the many charms of Bruges. The ride follows the picturesque "Kastelen route," where black-and-white cows graze in green meadows and historic castles dot the landscape. Belgium boasts more castles per square mile than any other country, and today’s route offers a fascinating array of historical landmarks. Lunch is on your own—whether you start with dessert first and enjoy a traditional Belgian waffle or explore Bruges' many dining options. Today's ride leads back into town, while the avid option delves deeper into the countryside. Tonight, we’ll gather for a special final dinner at a truly unique restaurant in Bruges, raising a glass to the incredible rides, discoveries, and friendships made along the way.

Overview

As all good things, our trip has come to a conclusion. Enjoy an early morning easy spin to the scenic villages of Moerkerke and Damme or choose to sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. You’ll say your final farewell to your guides at The Pand Hotel at 11:45 AM. A private Trek Travel shuttle to Bruges Central Station will depart from the hotel at 12:00 PM noon. Please do not schedule a flight out of Brussels airport before 5:00 PM on the last day of the trip to allow plenty of time for any unforeseen delays.
