The Bizkaibus operates between Bilbao airport and the city centre daily between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM for a cost of six euros and a travel time of approximately 25 minutes. Train schedules are available and tickets can be booked directly online at www.renfe.com. (Please note the train schedule can change frequently. Please consult the Renfe site for the most up-to-date schedule).
Alternatively, you can fly into Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) and take a train to Logroño. The journey takes approximately three hours and 20 minutes and costs around €70. Logroño (RJL) also has a small airport with some local and European flights. (Note that trains are popular, convenient, and enjoyable way to travel in Europe, offering scenic views of the landscapes).
Your Trek Travel host will meet you at Hotel Sercotel Calle Mayor, Logroño (Calle Marqués de San Nicolás, 71, 26001 Logroño, La Rioja) at 10:00 AM on the first day of the trip. Please come dressed in your cycling clothes and bring a separate bag with any personal cycling equipment such as your personal pedals and saddle (if you wish to bring your own), snacks, layers, and anything else you may need for your ride. All your luggage will be transferred to the first hotel by your host. You will be fitted to your Trek bike ensuring you will be comfortable for the week. Following a safety talk and a review of the details of the route, you'll then begin the day's ride to San Millan de la Cogolla.
If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your host. You will receive an email a week before the trip starts with their name and contact details.
