What Guests are Saying

This trip explores one of the most beautiful areas of the Dolomites in South Tyrol—the celebrated Pusteria Valley, often called the "green valley." It branches off into picturesque and remote side valleys that retain an unspoiled, traditional charm. I can't wait for you to discover its gentle meadows, dense forests, and sunny plateaus, which make this region an ideal destination for leisure cyclists.

Know Before You Go!

We want you to be fully prepared for your cycling vacation of a lifetime. This involves making sure that you choose the appropriate trip for you and that every aspect of your experience is flawless. Each Trek Travel trip is unique to ensure maximum enjoyment every time.

Your Trip Need to Knows:

  • Dietary restrictions: South Tyrolean cuisine is a unique blend of Italian, Austrian, and German culinary traditions, characterized by both hearty Alpine dishes and Mediterranean influences. Expect to find a variety of flavors and ingredients, from local cheeses and meats to fresh produce and regional specialties like dumplings, speck (smoked ham), and apple strudel. Your dietary needs will be accommodated, though specific restrictions may offer fewer choices.
  • Dining: European dinners might take longer than what you are used to. This allows you to enjoy the delicious local cuisine at a leisurely pace and creates a relaxed, social atmosphere.
  • Air Conditioning: As is the case in many hotels in the region, most rooms at Alpinhotel Keil are not equipped with air conditioning. Two air-conditioned rooms are available as upgrades on a first-come, first-served basis; additional costs may apply.
  • Gravel bike paths: Please note that 30% of the bike paths are hard-packed gravel, not the typical smooth pavement. However, these are perfectly rideable on our Domane and Verve bikes, making them suitable for recreational riders.
  • E-Bikes: E-bike speeds vary worldwide due to local regulations, which determine how fast you can ride with assistance. See the E-bike speed chart to see the maximum speeds allowed in each region.
  • Weather and Packing: The weather is notoriously unpredictable in the mountains. Thunderstorms are frequent during the summer months, most likely in the afternoon, so we recommend packing light rain gear such as a vest and a rain jacket.

Before and After Your Trip

FAQs

June, July and August in the Alps and Dolomites bring mostly clear, warm days and cool mountain evenings—perfect for cycling and exploring. Daytime temperatures typically range from the mid-60s to mid-70s°F (around 18–24°C), though sunny afternoons can sometimes climb into the low 80s. Mornings and evenings are crisp, so layering is key. Rain showers can pop up unexpectedly, so it’s smart to pack light rain gear to keep your ride smooth and comfortable. View our Packing List
