Know Before You Go!

We want you to be fully prepared for you hiking and walking tour with us. This involves making sure that you choose the appropriate trip for you and that every aspect of your experience is flawless. Each Trek Travel trip is unique to ensure maximum enjoyment every time.

Your Trip Need to Knows:

  • Weather and Packing: The weather is notoriously unpredictable in the mountains. You can experience all seasons in one day so bringing layers is key! Layering is the best way to regulate your body temperature. This tried-and-true strategy is all about slipping layers on and off as your activity level or the weather changes.
  • For a comfortable hiking experience, we recommend wearing sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes or boots with high ankle support. Also consider bringing several pairs of hiking socks, a hat, sunscreen, lightweight fleece, waterproof jacket, and a blister pack. Trek Travel will provide you with a technical tshirt and water bottle while hiking poles and backpacks will be made available. For more information and a more complete packing list, see the Packing and Weather FAQ below.
  • Please note that because weather conditions can change rapidly, guides may choose to modify the daily hike/activity for your safety. This could involve changes in both distance and elevation.

Before and After Your Trip

FAQs

The Dolomites offer a lovely climate for the outdoors in July and August, peak hiking season, with average temperatures hovering between 73-86ºF (23-30°C) depending on your elevation. Evenings tend to be cool and fresh. While mostly stable in summer months, mountain weather conditions can change dramatically from one hour to the next. As the day progresses, a thunder storm can roll in when the sky was perfectly clear, and in just a few hours the temperatures can drop from extremely hot temperatures to temperatures that are below freezing. Therefore, we recommend bringing a variety of hiking gear that prepares you for cold, wet, or warm weather. Please, be prepared by bringing layers and rain gear for possible rain showers. Layers are key when hiking in the mountains!
