We recommend that you fly into Pau (PUF) or Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrenees Airport (LDE) from Paris. There are direct flights to Pau and Tarbes-Lourdes airports from Paris (CDG or ORY) and some European cities. Air France has several daily options, and early bookers may find cheaper flights with EasyJet, although these are less frequent. From Pau (PUF) airport, you can take a taxi to Pau center for approximately 30 euros; from Tarbes, the taxi is approximately 70-100 euros to reach Pau center.

After a one hour and half shuttle by private coach, enjoy lunch with your guides, and spend time familiarizing with your itinerary for the week. After a brief orientation and safety talk, saddle up to begin the day's ride.

If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their name and contact details. Planning For Your Trip

Packing and Weather

The summer months can bring warm days, ranging from the mid 60s to low 80s Fahrenheit (18-27 Celsius), with evenings dropping to the mid 50s to mid 60s Fahrenheit (13-18 Celsius). When traveling in the mountainous regions of France, it is best to be prepared for variable conditions, as weather can change very quickly, and there is always the chance of snow and rain. We recommend always traveling with rain gear, as well as plenty of breathable layers to provide warmth should the temperature drop. Packing List

Before and After Your Trip

before

Before: Paris, France

The ‘City of Lights’ has something for everyone. Start with a stroll and spot famous landmarks including the Arc de Triomphe or the Sacré-Cœur, take time to visit the Louvre museum, or venture to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Discover the height of French gastronomy and admire the couture fashion or shop at the diverse boutiques throughout the city. Consider arriving a few days early and join Trek Travel in Paris for the finale of the Men's Tour de France Paris Finale Viewing Event! We recommend the following accommodations for your Paris pre-trip hotel:

after

After: Pau, France

Pau, the capital of the Pyrénées-Atlantique, is situated near the border of Spain, between Toulouse and the Côte Basque. It offers spellbinding views of both rolling hills and snow capped mountains. Don’t miss the Pau Castle, the birth place of King Henry IV, and the fortress of the Viscounts of Bearn, a royal residence during the renaissance. Parts of the castle look quite austere, but the main entrance is lovely. You’ll find exceptional museums, including the Bernadotte Museum and the Musée des Beaux-Art, which house works by Rubens and Dégas among many others. Pau-Pyrénées also has the best shops in the Bearn region. From antique dealers to souvenirs and from bars to restaurants to haute-couture, this region offers it all. Plus, enticing markets with lively, colorful and varied selections that are sure to please the senses. We recommend the following for your post-trip accommodations:
