Welcome to one of Italy’s most beautiful villages! Nicknamed by famous Italian poet and Nobel Prize winner Giosué Carducci "the city of a hundred horizons", Asolo is a real pearl in the Veneto region. Located on gentle slopes between the Treviso plain and the Pre-Alps, this village is a real open-air museum, a peaceful place of the past, where every building, street, and porch conveys a sense of beauty and perfect integration with the surrounding landscape. From Treviso, a private shuttle will take you to the luxurious hotel Villa Cipriani located in the heart of the medieval village of Asolo, where a Trek Travel guide will welcome you. After making sure you have an excellent fit to your Trek bicycle, you will venture on your first scenic ride in this enchanting territory. Only a few kilometers into the ride, you will stop by Villa Barbaro di Maser, one of the greatest masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, listed among the UNESCO World Heritage sites. A visit to the interior of this mansion makes it a very special experience! After the visit, challenge yourself with the short but demanding climb of Mostaccin, beloved by the locals and featured several times in the Giro d’Italia. Tonight, a refined dinner awaits you in the elegant setting of Villa Cipriani, your home for the next five days during your self-guided bike tour.

Today's Ride:

Asolo Loop with Mostaccin
Approximately 18 miles with 2,177 feet of climbing

Hotel Villa Cipriani

Included Meals:

Social Hour | Dinner

This morning savor your first exquisite breakfast at Villa Cipriani and get ready for a fantastic tour through the rolling hills of Prosecco, where the cultivation of vines is a religion. The breathtaking panorama of the snow-covered Alps will provide a stunning backdrop to today's ride. After crossing the Piave River, you will notice how the Prosecco vineyards dominate on the surrounding steep hillsides. The terrain will become hilly, with short but steep ascents, yet the panoramas will make all your efforts worthwhile. If you feel like adding some elevation gain, we recommend taking the avid option to Molinetto della Croda, an ancient watermill dating back to the 17th century and a picturesque spot that is not to be missed. Your experience in the Prosecco hills will not be complete until you sip a glass of this beloved sparkling wine while enjoying spectacular views of the vine-covered hills! The opportunity is offered by the winery Tenuta Amadio, providing you with a guided visit of their spectacular estate and cellars along with a superb wine tasting including the Asolo DOCG Prosecco. For lunch and dinner today, make good use of our hand-selected recommendations as you explore this incredible region.

Today's Ride:

Asolo to Follina to Valdobbiadene
Approximately 46 miles with 2,870 feet of climbing

Avid Option:

Hotel Villa Cipriani

No matter which ride you select today, it will be the ride of a lifetime. You may opt for a gentle loop through rolling vineyards at the feet of the Monte Grappa or choose to challenge yourself and ascend this legendary mountain. This famous climb in the Pre-Alps was a World War I battleground, and today Monte Grappa stands as a focal point of fierce Italian national pride. It's also a wonderland for cyclists, offering ten paved routes to the summit, one of which is considered one of the most beautiful and challenging climbs in Italy. The Giro d'Italia has visited Monte Grappa several times and the ride is considered a must for any cycling fan. The challenge ends at a huge Memorial monument where many soldiers were buried; this is why the Italians consider this mountain sacred. From the summit (on a clear day), you will see the lagoon of Venice in the south and the sharp summits of the Dolomites to the north. Enjoy the vistas while you have lunch at our recommended location, Rifugio Bassano. You'll be surrounded by fields and pastures on the mountain complete with “malghe,” or alpine homes to the animals. After lunch, descend toward Romano d'Ezzelino and then retrace your steps back to your fantastic hotel. Tonight is yours to wander through the streets of Asolo historic center at your leisure. Enjoy an aperitif with “cicchetti”, the typical small tasty snacks, and celebrate your cycling achievement with a delicious dinner in one of the local taverns recommended by our local experts.

Today's Activity:

Pedemontana Loop
Approximately 30 miles with 2,345 feet of climbing

Avid Option:

Monte Grappa Loop
Approximately 45 miles with 6,486 feet of climbing

Hotel Villa Cipriani

Included Meals:

Today, you will have the opportunity to ride along tranquil country roads to Bassano del Grappa, a gem that lies at the foothills of the Monte Grappa massif from which it takes its name. Take a stroll through its vibrant city center before crossing the bridge, called the “Ponte Vecchio”, the best-known monument in town. Originally designed by the visionary designer Andrea Palladio in 1569, this bridge is made entirely of wood and is considered an engineering masterpiece hard to replicate even with today’s technology. If you want to mingle with the locals, pay a visit to the most ancient distillery called Nardini and order a round of “mezzo e mezzo” which is the house specialty. Next, we suggest you visit the medieval walled town of Marostica, characterized by a lower and an upper castle connected by walls, flowing down the hillside. Follow your route all the way to the piazza, the hub of life in Marostica, which boasts a gigantic chessboard in its center. Every other September, locals dress in period costume and perform a human chess game as living pawns in the town square. Soak in the atmosphere of the medieval times as you savor a creamy gelato at the caffè centrale before cycling back to Asolo!

Today's Ride:

Asolo to Bassano del Grappa to Marostica return
Approximately 38 miles with 2,700 feet of climbing

Avid Option:

Asolo to Bassano del Grappa to Marostica to Crosara return
Approximately 43 miles with 3,637 feet of climbing

Hotel Villa Cipriani

Included Meals:

Breakfast | Dinner

Another memorable day of cycling awaits you today with views stretching as far as the eye can see across the Piave valley. The Montello area sits amidst the Treviso countryside near the Piave river and offers ideal terrain for cycling, with several naturalistic beauties and evocative roads of the Great War along the journey. You will ride on a quiet road with slight ups and downs through a lush oak forest that blankets the upper area of Montello, heading to some of the most hard-fought battlegrounds of WWI in Nervesa della Battaglia. Stop by the massive Monument Ossuary that contains the remains of 12,000 Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers who fell in the war, then ride past the mystic Abbey of Sant’Eustachio, an underground cave that was used during the same period. After the visit, if you wish to continue riding, you will start pedaling on the famous ridge road that goes steadily uphill through the forest. If you wish to add more miles Montello offers countless interconnecting cycling paths called “Prese”, which are numbered progressively and offer different slope steepness. The avid option we have designed for you features Presa 10 called Via Murada, which consists of a three kilometer climb at 6.8% average grade. Whatever option you choose, stop for lunch at the summit of this ridge road in Santa Maria della Vittoria before venturing on a sweeping descent towards Biadene. Tonight, walk to the square in Asolo and admire the flowered balconies of the surrounding houses to experience the feeling of “asolando”, a word coined by the British writer Robert Browning, indicating a sort of peaceful stroll surrounded by beauty. Afterward, let Villa Cipriani spoil you with one final dinner among the enchanting colors and scents of its wonderful garden, as you celebrate to a week of wonders in this magical region.

Today's Ride:

Asolo to Montello Loop
Approximately 41 miles with 2,758 feet of climbing

Avid Option:

Asolo to Montello Loop w/ Murada climb
Approximately 46 miles with 3,210 feet of climbing

It's time to say goodbye to the Prosecco hills. However, before packing your bags for the trip, take the opportunity of one last spin to Possagno to pay homage to a world-famous destination. At the feet of Monte Grappa, rising high above the town at end of a steep ramp lies an authentic treasure, the majestic Temple of Canova, a fusion of the Greek Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome. Back in Asolo, a Trek Travel guide will meet you at the hotel at 10:00 AM to take your bike and say farewell before you board on a private shuttle to Venice.

We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Venice, Marco Polo Airport (VCE). There are many options to get into central Venice, including bus, land taxi, or the famous water taxi from Marco Polo Airport. Land taxis outside the arrivals terminal are plentiful. Private water taxis cost approximately 80-120 euros. For bus service, the ATVO direct coach (www.atvo.it) takes you directly to Piazzale Roma, the end of the road in historic Venice and the entrance to the Grand Canal, in 20 minutes for 6 euros. The ATVO direct coach also operates a daily service from Venice airport to Treviso. The trip takes 35 minutes and costs 9 euros. You can reserve your ticket online on www.atvo.it

If you are going to spend some time in Venice before the trip starts, the best way to get to Treviso is by train from Venice S. Lucia train station. There are frequent direct trains to Treviso Centrale. The trip takes 30 minutes and costs about 4 euros.

A private shuttle will pick you up at Treviso Centrale at 11:00 AM on the first day of the trip. You'll then shuttle one hour to your hotel, where you will be welcomed by a Trek Travel guide. The guide will do a bike fitting to ensure your comfort on your Trek bike before you take your first spin through Veneto.

If you will be late for the pick-up or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip starts with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Hotel Villa Cipriani (+39 0423 523411), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. A taxi to the hotel would cost approximately 100 euros.

Before and After Your Trip

Before & After: Venice, Italy

Whether you’ve never been to Venice or have been there 20 times, there’s always something new to discover. Indeed, even the most seasoned visitors get lost in the city’s labyrinthine network of islands, bridges, pedestrian alleys, and canals. And therein lies the beauty of the destination: afternoons spent wandering from palace to piazza, exploring the small art museums, shopping the stalls that line the streets, and encountering a fresh side of Venice, a fascinating amalgamation of influences—Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Italian—every time you round a corner. The UNESCO World Heritage site comprises the city of Venice and its lagoon situated in the Veneto Region of northeast Italy. Founded in the fifth century and spread over 118 small islands, Venice became a major maritime power in the 10th century. The whole city is an extraordinary architectural masterpiece in which even the smallest building contains works by some of the world’s greatest artists. We recommend the following accommodations for your pre and post-trip hotel:
