Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at Hotel Nord 1901 in Girona at 10:00 AM. After a short round of introductions, your guides will share cycling tips specific to the region and help you get familiar with your Trek Checkpoint, expertly prepared for gravel riding around Catalonia. They’ll ensure a comfortable fit and install any saddles or equipment you’ve brought along. Once everyone is ready, you’ll set off on your first ride—a beautiful introduction to the gravel paths in and around Girona. Enjoy winding routes and a few punchy climbs on the locals’ favorite “airport loop.” After the ride, take time to enjoy lunch at your leisure, an ideal way to experience Girona’s vibrant café culture. Later, relax before meeting the group for dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants, where your guides will share what’s in store for the days ahead.

Today's goal is simple: ride until you reach the Mediterranean Sea. After a hearty breakfast, we'll gather for our first big day out through the Spanish countryside. Your route leads to the Costa Brava—a stunning stretch of coastline known for its rugged beauty, breezy Mediterranean climate, and clear blue water. You'll ride a mix of terrain on the way, including forest roads, greenways, and quiet canal paths. When you arrive at the coast, your guides will be ready with delicious sandwiches from the local panadería so you can enjoy fresh bakery lunch by the sea. After taking in the views, you'll head back toward Girona through lush forests and past long-abandoned relics of Catalan history—all far from car traffic and busy roads. This evening, you're free to explore Girona and choose your own spot for dinner.

Fuel up for a memorable ride as we tackle the gravel edition of a quintessential Girona climb—Els Àngels—and see why this destination is a gravelist's favorite. This route showcases the region’s varied terrain, from smooth pavement and hard-packed gravel to twisty, more technical sections. We’ll roll out along flat gravel paths that trace the Riu Ter, then climb through shaded forest roads on a mix of dirt and pavement to the Sanctuary of Els Àngels—famously the site of Dalí’s wedding. After a scenic lunch with panoramic views of Girona, descend a steep, winding gravel track back to town. Spend the afternoon exploring Girona’s medieval walls, the Cathedral, or the Jewish Quarter. The town is alive with cycling cafés, music, international cuisine, parks, and historic streets. Tonight, enjoy dinner on your own at one of the local favorites recommended by your guides.

From here, we roll onto a stretch of technical, twisting coastal gravel that leads us toward Cadaqués—an artists’ haven of whitewashed homes, sparkling coves, and unmistakable Mediterranean calm. We’ll pause for lunch at a local bistro to enjoy a few Catalan specialties before continuing along the rugged shoreline toward El Far, a quiet lighthouse lookout offering sweeping sea views that make the climb more than worth it. After looping around and descending back into Roses, we’ll shuttle to the hotel with time to unwind before regrouping for dinner at a local favorite, sharing the day’s stories over a warm, satisfying meal.

This winding 6-mile (10 km) ascent is a true test, but the sweeping views from the summit make every pedal stroke worthwhile. Prefer a steadier ride? Opt for the alternative route over La Mota and its punchy climbs before descending to a well-earned Catalan feast at a charming food truck in Canet d’Adri.
