Meet your guides at the 21c Museum Hotel at 11:00 am. After a brief shuttle, you'll be treated to a signature Trek Travel picnic followed by a bike fitting session and your first ride. You’ll start with a few miles of pavement, meandering through the grounds of the Crystal Bridges Museum, as you make your way north to sample the gravel on the beloved Sugar Creek Road. Following a short gravel loop, we’ll return to town on pavement. After checking into the hotel, you’ll have some time to get acquainted with the town square before we gather for social hour, where your guides will fill you in on the rest of the week's adventures. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at The Hive, an award winning restaurant serving creative High South cuisine highlighting ingredients like black walnuts, freshly milled corn meal, hickory smoked hams, peaches, melons and sweet onions.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at The Hive this morning before meeting at the bikes for your first full day of adventure. Today’s ride begins with a few miles of bike path and then the roller coaster begins. Pristine undulating pavement turns to gravel about six miles into the ride. The hills continue as you wind your way through forest and farmland northwest toward the small town of Gravette. The short option begins with a shuttle today, while the others pedal from the hotel. Avid cyclists will complete an extended loop to the outskirts of Gravette, while the rest of the crew tackles a slightly smaller loop. Regardless of what you choose, everyone will follow the same route back to Bentonville and we'll regroup at our favorite little coffee shop in the woods. After the ride, enjoy lunch at a cafe of your choice. Late this afternoon, we'll take a private guided tour of the renowned Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The one-hour tour will cover the three basic pillars of the museum experience: art, nature, and architecture. This evening, we'll gather for a delectable dinner in a historic church-turned-restaurant aptly named The Preacher's Son.

Use today as a rolling recovery day or choose the avid option if you are here to build your endurance. Aside from about 8-10 miles of pavement to get to and from the outskirts of town, today's ride is pure gravel bliss. Weave your way through an endless maze of dirt, trees, and farms to your heart's content. Your guides will keep you headed in the right direction and top off your bottles as you won’t find any services out here, just the isolated beauty of your surroundings, punctuated by trees and cattle. The ride ends with lunch at one of our favorite haunts in Bentonville. The afternoon is yours to relax or get more acquainted with the shops in town. When you are ready, dinner is on your own this evening at one of the many local restaurants a short walk away from the hotel. We suggest starting your evening off at The Momentary's Tower Bar for a cocktail with a view.

The short option will shuttle to the state line and then jump into the fun, while avid riders will complete an extended loop around Pea Ridge Military Park. As you ride through the serene country roads surrounding this area, you may get lost in the seclusion and sanctity found in these lush green hills. We will have a casual lunch en route today, and all routes will converge as we head back to the hotel. It’s the perfect grand finale for an epic week of gravel exploration around this cycling mecca. The unpaved surfaces on our Bentonville Gravel bike tour are rated as Intermediate. About 50% of the riding is unpaved. You can expect gravel roads that are primarily smooth dirt roads with sparse to moderate amounts of gravel. At times, there will be short sections of rougher road that may have deep or chunky gravel, potholes, ruts, or washboard like surfaces. Bentonville is surrounded by farmland that sprawls out toward the Ozark Mountains. The terrain is flat to rolling hills with some short, steep hills mixed in to keep you on your toes. All rides starting from the hotel will begin with 5-10 miles (8-16 km) of pavement before you reach gravel. Once on gravel roads, expect minimal traffic and no services as you will be traversing rural farm country. Your guides will be able to drive all roads with the support van. Our Bentonville Gravel bike tour is best suited for Level 2 Riders who have some experience riding gravel roads and are accustomed to varied gravel conditions and moderately hilly terrain. Level 3 and 4 riders will enjoy the extra mileage and climbs the avid route options offer.
NON-RIDING ACTIVITIES:
There are a variety of non-riding options on this trip for riders who want to take the afternoon off or travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Trip Consultants for more information. • Visit the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and its newest addition, The Momentary
  • Visit the Walmart Museum
  • Visit the Museum of Native American History.

See itinerary for specific daily ride distances and elevation options. This is a Signature Gravel trip. Our itineraries are an approximation of our trips. Trek Travel strives to offer every guest a vacation of a lifetime on every trip. On our gravel cycling vacations, Trek Travel seeks to find well maintained, non-technical gravel roads and bike paths; unmaintained roads and roads with ruts or deep or chunky gravel are avoided as much as possible. However, gravel roads are dynamic by nature. Road surfaces change throughout the year depending on maintenance (grading, adding new gravel) and weather, particularly rain. Our guides will be constantly monitoring road conditions and may change the routes as needed to provide the best possible riding experience. In addition, as with all of our trips, at times routes, hotels, activities, etc. listed here may change at the discretion of the trip designer or guides to improve the trip experience.

Averages and totals are calculated from our "Today’s Ride" options.
