Chile

Lake and Volcano District

Voted South America's leading adventure tourism destination in the World Travel Awards, Chile is an adventurer’s paradise. Even the mere mention of its name conjures images of adventure, with smoking volcanoes, lush tropical jungles, open roads and a warm culture. Trek Travel takes you to three of Mother Nature's most impressive ports of call in Chile: the Araucarias Biosphere Reserve which is dedicated to preserving the country’s national tree; the outdoor mecca of Pucon and Villarrica National Park in the heart of the Lake and Volcano District; and the Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve, a unique ecosystem within the Patagonian Rainforest. Along the way, we will ride over spectacular terrain peppered with live volcanoes and glacial lakes, visit with some of Chile’s indigenous inhabitants, raft the Trancura River, and hike through tropical forests and bucolic natural preserves. You'll want to bring a camera for this.

Trip Wows
Hike through Araucaria forests in the Araucarias UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. These "monkey puzzle" trees are up to 2,000 years old
Raft the Trancura River and see why Pucon is known as the adventure capital of Chile
Eat dinner prepared by an indigenous Mapuche family in their thatched ruka "house" and learn about the only South American people who thwarted the powerful Incans
Pedal beneath smoking volcanoes and beside clear lakes as you ride Chile's famous Road of the Seven Lakes
Enjoy local Chilean cuisine, including asados (BBQ), sopaipillas, yerba mate, and pisco sour
Watch the Experience
When two of our most veteran guides returned from their research blown away by the hotels, meals and scenery on this trip, we knew we had a winner. Visit the Acaucarias reserve and see the wonder of the towering trees and tour through several extremely distinct National Parks and reserves throughout the region. The Chilean people could not be more proud or excited to host our groups and to welcome you to enjoy their version of paradise. You won’t want to miss this.
